B787 Power Cycled during Boarding

QR147 DOH-MAD on 8-July: Captain advised the entire aircraft had to be powered down to resolve a "small technical issue".

We have been in the dark for +5 minutes now...

Thus is a new 5-star experience for me!

Update

Captain now reporting 1 hour delay for techs to replace a piece of equipment, presumably something electronic.

I've had this happen a few times over the years the 787 has been in operation. It has fancy new windows, I always assumed this meant that that it needed the odd reboot, as well as some registry cleaning.

I experienced a "reboot" sitting at the gate on AA 136 LAX-LHR a number of years ago, 772-ER. I always have visions of flight crew hitting CTRL+ALT+DEL on their keyboards.

Not really, it happens, but very rarely. This is territory that Airbus models have covered long ago, and it can be done, safely. As always, having competent people and the right precaustions in place is a must, as modern aircraft are complicated beasts.
