I can confirm this. I was there on October 29 and they indeed closed at midday and re-opened at 5pm.

wouldn't it make more sense to do cleaning at night when there are less customers?

You mean like after midnight? Yup, makes sense to me. That's what I've been wondering about.

The lounge is full to its rafters until 0230am and gets busy again from 05am...

Surely it is better to close for cleaning when demand is lowest, during the day? Closing for cleaning at midnight until say 5 am for cleaning cuts into the end of the evening rush and the start of the morning rush, especially for those who overnight in the lounge. Closing at noon for 5 hours is closing when the lounge has fewest visitors and there is also an alternative outlet still open.

The lounge is EXTREMELY busy from 10 to 11pm to 2-3am. You must have never been at the lounge during those hours.

Actually, many times. Overnighted in the quiet rooms a few times, too. 2200-2300, yes; but have not observed the busy-ness in the 0200-0300 range.

Me too. I went through yesterday just before 1pm and the two doors to the deli were barricaded with yellow cleaning signs. I was told it's now closed between 9am and 5pm (although I see above others have been told midday, so I may have heard wrong). I guess it's so they don't have to staff the deli or secondary bathrooms during the quiet periods of the day.

Shame though - I missed my sandwich!

That is pretty poor , surely there isn't a shortage in flow of migrant workers from South East Asia willing to work in the lounges. UAE take them all....?

Good to know for shower planning purposes, too.

You can actually walk around the yellow barricades, just let the staff know that you're going to the quiet area/shower rooms.
