777 vs 330/340/380...and do scheduled plane types change?
 

I'm looking at flying from KUL/BKK/PNH-DOH-TXL, and the first leg of the journey offers several different plane options:777, 330, 340 and 380. So I have two questions:

1. Is one plane type superior to another? I am looking at tickets in both Y and C, but am leaning towards C because the schedule is better for me and it's an award ticket. But I'm interested in hearing about different plane types for both classes.

2. Are the plane types scheduled usually correct? I don't want to pick a ticket based on a specific plane type if the odds are good it will change closer to the date. I'd rather pick the (marginally) better schedule.

Scheduled planes may change for many reasons, there is no guarantee the airline will fly you in an specific aircraft. For some routes this is more stable (LHR, CDG...) but don't give it for granted.

IMO 380 > 777 > 330 > 340

Also check out the fleet guide post in this forum. There are huge differences between planes (especially in C). I agree with poster above, go for 380 if possible, 777 is also very nice (particularly if you travel with someone else)

The flight with the 380 is BKK-DOH, but they have other flights on the same route on the 777, so I guess even if they switch it will be okay. :)

Just finished an LHR-DOH-SIN-DOH-LHR trip in J, was on 777/A350/A350/A380

Would say 777 > A380 > A350

Don't forget the A340 now has a new seat that's fully flat too, flying that in Jan

What do you prefer about the 777 in J? About to board BKK-HAN on the 777 and wish it was the A380 instead...

As I don't have to put my feet under the seat in front of me, it feels much more spacious to me. The cabin as a whole felt much roomier as well - the A350 felt quite cramped, and the A380 could have done with having the J cabin broken up rather than being a large expanse. Although the bar on the A380 was pretty cool.

Now I am looking at a route that include the 340v2 and the 787. Are there seating charts anywhere for the two-class 346? I can't seem to find any.

Mmm, yeah the 777 seats better than I remember, esp if no-one next to you.

Can't comment on C, but QR's A380 in Y was far more superior to that on the B777.
