impeymac I agree that Al Mourjan is not a full OW lounge. But that is because OW status passengers are not permitted. For Premium passengers it is a full OW lounge.

With regard to OP yes he has status and can access the Business class lounge. But what of the person who has just joined a OW FFP and has no status. Where would he go? Surely not a OW status lounge. Just think how some members of this forum would react.

I think that we are nit-picking here so why not agree that we have different opinions and wait for QR to pontificate.

Do you think it would make sense to write QR and ask about it?

Having read the OW lounge rules closely again, I tend to agree with remdk that I should have access (of course, this is also what I would like to be the case, so maybe I am biased). What leads me to this is that in the rules for J and F passengers, the Al Mourjan lounge is actually mentioned with an exception to the OW rules, stating that guests are not permitted. To me, this indicates that all other rules mentioned there actually do apply. If not, wouldn't they have stated that, instead of just mentioning the guest exception?

However, it is clear that a bit of interpretation is needed to come to either conclusion -- and I am just curious if the lounge staff will follow my reading. Would be great to see the lounge, though, as this will be my first time with QR J and my first time at HIA.

Unfortunately, I think you will be wasting your time.

Al Mourjan (and Al Safwa when it opens) are not Oneworld lounges. Oneworld rules do not apply to them. They are QR lounges for premium passengers ticketed in Business and First, respectively. QR does admit Oneworld pax from partner airlines (I think only CX or RJ use HIA) into Al Mourjan, if they have a onward business class ticket.
For the QR lounges, FF status means nothing. Entry is according to your next Boarding Pass.

With a onward Y ticket as you have, no joy for Al Mourjan.

There are 2 other lounges - the First Class and Business Class Lounge.
As per Oneworld rules, you will have access to the Business Class lounge per your BA Oneworld status.

Now having said all of above, there is one exception to the rule.
If you have just arrived in paid First Class on the A380 from LHR, CDG or BKK. irrespective of what your Boarding Pass is for next sector, they will let you into the QR Al Moujan/Al Safwa. (arriving in Business as you have, is a no go).

Good luck.

This is not correct as far as I know.

You will not gain access irrespectice of the onward boarding pass for the next sector. Access to AM will only be given if your onward flight is F or J. Onward flight in Y will give no access no matter what class you arrive in.

However, when Al Safwa open, arrival in F will (probably) give access to AS if you are in J on the onward flight, and the onward flight dont have F.

I think that we are all missing an important point here. The rules for the old Premium clearly stated that it was the class of departure that gave access to PT. In the current publihed rules the deprture condition does not appear. We all, myself included, just assumed that it was there. Is it there? “The Lounge access is for Qatar Airways and oneworld First and Business Class passengers only.“

The Oneworld rules state that for OWS and OWE travelling in Y Al Mourjan is NOT an OW lounge. For First and Business class, with the exception of guests, it is an OW lounge. Therefore OW rules regarding regarding long haul J and short haul Y apply.

I was able to use the Al Mourjan lounge after arriving on QR J and connecting to a separate QR Y ticket to DXB. The agent just wanted to see my J BP and my Y BP. He said it wasn't a problem.

This was first reported by another member in the Arrivals Lounge thread and it proved to be true.

Just noticed it was first mentioned by RUN4FUN who states in post 6 the OP wouldn't have access.

Yes I did, because my sister was denied exactly this access five dags ago. When was your transit Skunker?

remdk Sep 17, 2015 3:52 pm

RUN4FUN was your sisters Y flight over or under 5 hours? (long haul/short haul).
The OW rules only cover long haul to short haul and short haul to long haul. Long haul to long haul is not in the rules.

Timely thread - I'm flying into DOH on EY (in J) and then onto MLE on QR (in Y). LoungeBuddy says I do have access based on my OW status. Is that correct?

You will get access to the less than first class "First Class Lounge" but not QR's premium lounges.

Abidjan Sep 18, 2015 9:17 am

Thanks skunker. That was my plan/expectation. Looks like Loungebuddy needs some fine tuning.

remdk Sep 18, 2015 10:11 am

Abidjan EY is not a member of Oneworld so it has no effect on lounge access. Since your cabin class on QR is Y you would have no lounge access.
However OWS have access to the Business Class lounge and OWE have access to First Class lounge. As already stated in this thread these are OW status lounges NOT Al Mourjan the Premium Business lounge.

Abidjan Sep 18, 2015 10:58 am

Thanks, yes I know EY isn't OW and my plan all along was the Business lounge. Just wanted to check when LoungeBuddy said otherwise.
