As advised, just be cautious of finding space for your hand-baggage. My advice would simply be to board when you like, sit down, and possibly move your elbow out the way.

If you get bashed, or are concious of being hit, stare angrily at people - I find this works on most flights!

Safe travels

seats on 777-300 J ORD-DOH and DOH-ORD

We are booked next summer on round trip ORD to DOH. (connecting to JRO flights).
J seating assignments look pretty open right now and we have row 2J/K and the opposite side of the plane on the return.
Our flights land and take off with some day light so wondering if there is one side better than the other for view or if it just isn't worth it. If not worth it, we'll go for the middle two seats.
Thanks for any input,
AJ

aj411 Your choice of seats depends entirely on what you want. Do you want to see the countries you are flying over or do you want to just sleep? Or what?

Look at ORD-DOH QR726 and DOH-ORD QR725 on flightradar24.com and you can see the routes flown for the last 7 days. Note that QR726 flies a much more Southerly route over UK and Germany whilst QR725 flies much more Northerly route over the Southern tip of both Iceland and Greenland.

On your outward flight I would suggest that it does not really matter where you sit, especially if you wish to sleep. On your return I would recommend J/K seats so you get the best views of Iceland and Greenland.

Any help must be based upon what you want to do on the 13-15 hour flights, mostly in daylight.

I was thinking more take off and landing. My guess is the rest of the flight will be sleeping and eating (or drinking).
I do a lot of traveling but my other half doesn't. If there is something to see, he likes a window

Has anyone flown on the a350 to Philadelphia? I see it listed as the aircraft for flights from DOH-PHL in February.

I believe the A350 is flying commercially to the USA until January 2016, so nobody will have flown the aircraft to the US yet...unless they were on the private charter DOH-JFK-DOH earlier this month.

In terms of the A350 aircraft though, there have been a few reports from QR passengers

I'm flying home from the Maldives in July on the A320. Is there a big chance that I'll get an A320 with fully flat beds?

LH4116 according to Thqatarsource.com all flights in December were either A330-200 or long haul A320, both with lie flat seats.
Since you are first flying in 6 months a lot of changes can occur before then.

If flying in Feb 2016 on A320 DOH to JRO in J, any chance that these would be flat seats? Or are they the barely reclining old J product? Seatguru is showing seat pitch of 45, which seems a bit stingy for a 6+ hour trip in J.

africaflier according to 'theqatarsource.com' All flights to/from JRO in December were on shorthaul A320s That is recliner seats! It will probably remain unchanged in the coming weeks.

Has the A350 actually been pulled from QR70 FRA-DOH for the whole of February? I can't tell; the individual dates all have a 777 listed, but the larger scale schedule still says A359 until mid March.

Looks like it. QR68 is also a 777 on some days. Could be related to passenger or freight capacity as well as the lack of A359s available right now.

Any thoughts on what are best J seats on the a350? I have 14 hour flights PHL-DOH and return. Am thinking it would be nice to have a window. Currently in 3K eastbound and 5A westbound.

And what do people think about the two different J cabins? The smaller one might be nice, but is closer to economy and might be near a bassinet seat? Do those in the forward cabin get served first?
