I had an F segment scheduled for 10/23. Decided to fly Etihad instead. No use waiting for Al Safwa, although I shall be very chagrined if they decide to open it in the next week or two.

Hi All,
I recently used the first class lounge for one world emerald and felt it was not bad. The champagne served was Laurent Perrier and billecart Salman and the lounge was empty last Wednesday morning.
Just thought I'd share.
Cheers,
Timo

Thats interesting they serve champagne there. In the business class lounge on the opposite they even not had beer the last time i was inside.
Was it self service or service staff you have to ask for the champagne?

I think the majority of views out there put the opening of this lounge most likely by the end of this year. I don't think anyone knowing the value of a dollar would bet on that happening though because, as I have mentioned before, it is QR.
No one has a reason out there for why it has been so late and what the delays are. Personally it is frustrating that no one has pressured QR or AAB about it.

There are bits and pieces here and there about this lounge but nothing is confirmed. It was supposed to open in April this year, but alas - as with most things QR - further delays.

First class and business class lounge compare
Someone know if they serve Champagne in this first class lounge (not the Safa lounge which is still not open)?
I am Qatar Gold an travelling i Y so can go in the business class lounge which is so so.
At the end of the year will be Platin and the have access to first class lounge on the opposite.
Would like to know is there a big improvement to business class. If have champagne there then it would be for me.

Information is simply not a part of the Qatar Airways culture. Exemptions are info regarding new destinations, rewards and when AAB do anything magnificent.

The Al Safwa was originally delayed as the Emir did not like the lounge when it was completed (according to four or five senior HIA staff I spoke to a while back)
