I just downloaded the app. It's showing me two circles, one with # of Qmiles and the other Qpoints, telling me how many Qpoints I need to renew my Platinum tier based on the 12 month requalification criteria. It is also a snapshot of where I stand right now. It doesn't tell me my renewal requirements considering the 24 month criteria, neither does it say how many I would need to just go down to gold. All this was info that was available on the old QR website.

As QR, like any other airline, states that any classes not in the earnings tables are ineligible there is not much you can do. Other than raise the point, and hopefully they will also get around to fixing it.

For now, do you have another OW program you can credit it to? That is your only current cause of action to get the points. I guess the destination is rare enough for QR not to have received enough complaints yet to take action.
QR updated their tables with Business and PE. I think they still need to update it as Y flights seem too generous (and earn more than PE and J) but it is a good outcome

The new QR dashboard is nothing short of a disaster. The old dashboard had lots of useful information, the new one has very little useful information.

One major missing piece as you mentioned is the additional requirements for qualification such as number of flights on QR.

If anyone from QR is reading this, seriously, sort it out.

Tier Points and Avios for connecting flights

Hi, will be flying QR for the first time next year, EDI-DOH-NRT in business. Am I right that I will accrue tier points and Avios for both sectors?

Another question please

Thanks for replies
In another older thread it says that you can go into the transit area to visit the AM lounge and use lockers then go *backwards " through security to get to arrivals area to go into Doha.

We hope to to do that on Wednesday. Can anyone confirm that is still possible

QUOTE=Dr. HFH;30301974]Yes, there are lockers (which lock!) in Al Mourjan. After you go around the reception desk, turn right and you'll see a podium. To your the of the podium as you're looking at it, you'll see a set of glass doors. The lockers are through these doors. You'll have to show your boarding pass.[/QUOTE]

If your specific booking class allows for accrual yes. You would need to look at your ticket and get the fare class and compare that to BA's earning tables. But generally, yes.

All 4 flights (there and back) are in I class, so I think that means yes, according to the BA calculator.

Some questions and any other advice please.
Can we leave our cabin bags somewhere at the airport?
Is it easy to get to get a taxi to and from town?
Do we need local currency or can we use cards for most things?
We will probably get back to the airport by 2200 to enjoy the AM lounge and have a shower but I believe it gets very busy later?
Museum of islamic art closes 7pm, it's free. Only 3 floors open when I went.
Taxis didn't take credit cards. Taxi was 30 Qatari Riyal, Uber was 11nzd, just paid via the credit card in the Uber app so no need for money.
Uber is there and easy. Hope you have good roaming prices with your phone company. Mine were outrageous. I should have got a SIM card.
You could take a ride in the dhow boat along the Corniche. The city lights are great.
Soug Waqif was fantastic too. Different architecture. Just watching people socialising was really cool. Mostly migrant workers but they were lovely. No drunks!!
It's also one of the safest countries and Doha one of the safest cities in the world. It was number 2 for one of those things. Temperature in the evening was awesome ~ 8pm
Going through security etc to get into and out of the country was pretty quick. Small queue.

For that layover I'd rather get out of the airport. Or go to the vitality area for gym and pool.

I'm not really a newbie, but I know that most of you will know the answer better than me.

Want to book MAN-KBV in May 2019. Last flight DOH-KBV-DOH currently loaded 30 Mar. I know this is fairly normal with QR.

When will I likely get a definite idea of whether I need to be looking at alternative airlines?

Have you checked every day? It increased frequenct to daily for Winter 2018 so may be cutting back again in the summer schedule.

Upgrade options.

Hello all,

Complete newbie here, but I've spent the last 12 months reading this excellent site-thanks for all the info and tips so far!

I've been flying with Qatar (now at Gold membership level), mainly economy (as work will only pay for the cheapest flight!) from LHR to SE Asia, Jakarta usually. When asked at check-in (LHR) to use Qmiles to upgrade I've been told on the last 3 flights that they can only upgrade 2 pax a day from Y to J, does anyone know if this is the case how do I become one of these two!?
I'm also aware that you can't upgrade a promo ecomony ticket, are the rest (Saver/Value/Flexi) all OK to be upgraded? Or only certain fares? I will be paying for a flight in June 2019 and I don't want to pay more for a ticket if I still can't upgrade, seems pointless. I've looked at J and its currently around £2600 return LHR to Jakarta, which is quite expensive. The last flight that had upgrade for cash was about £550 Jakarta to Doha, and £850 Doha to London, just too much £.

I've also got 40 Qcredits, how can i use these too? Expires June 2019.

Thanks in advance.

Becky.

I never heard of that limit of 2 upgraded passengers per day (maybe a new “enhancement”) and never had a problem to upgrade at airport when J seats are available.
To maximize your Qcredits, use them for the DOH-CGK leg or CGK-DOH and use Qmiles for other legs.
Any economy booking class is upgradable at the airport except W,O and T.
O and T allow advance upgrade through the website (but availability is usually low to non existent) only if booked under Saver fare (not a Promo fare).
Upgrading the LHR-DOH will require you to pay extra APD for business class.
