For the lack of a better place to put it I'll add it here.
I recently spent a night at the Oryx hotel in the terminal. Apart for the usual prices, I noticed on the check-in form they make you sign there is multiple tick boxes. One of them is "Opt out of email address sharing". Now, that made me think, because after I stayed here last time one of my email accounts that I use for this kind of stuff started to get flooded with real estate spam for the region. That's more than a coincidence.

I am trying to figure out the mileage required for booking a one-way ORD-DOH-BOM flight in Business Class. The online calculator appears to be broken and doesnt give me a clear idea. When I tried to make a dummy booking, it prices at 160K + $200 in taxes or so. Is this is the standard price or some kind of premium? I ask because there seems be some kind of "Q2" indicator next to them. Also would these seats be bookable using American miles?.

Trying to figure out if Qatar Airways Privilege Club would be the right program for me to credit my oneworld flights to.
So far I have no status with any alliance or airline. I have a home base in Asia and would fly out of KUL, BKK, SIN or anywhere in that region.
I am looking to mainly try my luck with Premium Fare Deals as well as Tier Point holidays where I would add multiple day stopovers.
The aim is getting oneworld status and optimise earning of miles. I'd be flying in business class to visit many different places and take one family member (a minor) with me. Within Asia I'd also fly Economy on shorter routes, for example CX or MH.
I see there are a lot of BA/AA tier point runs out of Europe and people seem to be crediting those to BAEC. Does it make sense to fly those and credit them to Qatar Airways Privilege Club?
What are typical tier point runs that Qatar members like?
Is it likely that Qatar Airways will also eventually switch to a revenue based model for earning miles and status? This as opposed to the current distance based earning would make hacks such as error fares and tier point runs irrelevant wouldn't it?

The double price redemptions are usually only bookable through QRPC using avios, so it's highly unlikely you would be able to find that through AA, which is where you would have to redeem AA miles

If it has the q2 or x2 flag next to the fare, then it is pricing at double avios. Normal single price avios redemptions are very hard to find currently. The taxes etc are the same for x1 or x2 though.

10k miles per hour in business class is a metric I like to use to determine a good deal or not.
If Delta flew that route, they would probably ask for 400k SkyMiles each way. They ask for 200-300k one way for the short JFK-LHR flight in Delta One.

There are probably still very few routes with x1 Avios for J award tickets, but probably hardly any on premium routes like LHR, SIN or most European / US airports (think fully Qsuite itineraries with connection time of less than 3 hours). I managed to get a x1 Avios J award ticket from KUL to the UK early this month for travel in December, but that took some effort to search through different combinations of origin and destination airports to find it.

Strangely, I was able to book a x1 Avios MAN-DOH trip in J next weekend for the F1. I only booked it last week, and there were only a couple of seats available on the outbound (B789).
So, they do exist.
I also checked BHX, and that had x1 availability on the same days (despite being 1 flight per day).

Hi all,
How strict is QR with the 62'' linear dimensions for checked luggage? Flying USA<>ME roundtrip [in J] and one of our checked luggage is 68.
I have other luggage I can use but the 68 is working out a lot better.
EK/EY has never given me an issue with this same checked luggage, but I have no experience with QR.
Is QR typically laxed with J pax or should I not take any chances? I realize my experience can be different than others and the risk will be there, but just seeking general consensus on their strictness.
TiA !

Hi All
I did a search around seats and couldn't find anything except on seat guru that told me my seat wasn't going to be great based on location. I am flying Doho-SFO in J and have seat 11A. It was booked via my corporate travel and I didn't have much say. I am looking at other seats and all that is available are 6D and 6G in the middle. I am traveling alone. Given they are the QSuites I assume both seats have privacy.
any opinions appreciated
