remdk or anyone else?

Does anyone know when QR are sending the 9 airbus A320's/A321 to LHR to cover the BA strike? Am keen to see them. The strike is due to start on Saturday, I would assume they should arrive tomorrow (ie.) with the crew needing rest.

Fontana this is the QR forum has heard of this matter. However a quick glance at the http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...g-strikes.html thread suggests that permission has yet to be granted. Of course I may have missed the announcement in the 200+ posts.

My answer is therefore I do not know! Maybe there are others with the requested information.

Free tour or self tour?

My wife and I are transiting DOH in a few weeks, we plan to visit the city briefly, and I've gleaned about all I can from the threads and want to clarify a couple things.

Arriving DOH 17:20, Departing 02:40, ticket is AA award (001 stock) so not eligible for free transit visa or STPC (please correct if I'm wrong). We are from USA, so visa on arrival is an option.

The QR free city tour departs at 20:00 (registration closes at 18:45), and we have looked at that as an option.

So my questions:
1. How likely is it the last QR city tour of the day be booked by the time we arrive? I have read it can get full quickly but it also seems transit traffic at DOH is down in light of recent events.
2. Does anyone have an opinion on whether it's easier to do a DIY Night Tour of DOH on arrival or finding a private tour, instead of waiting for the tour to depart at 20:00? Would possibly allow more time to see the streets active and relax in the lounge if we departed the airport earlier.

Thanks again for the help!

BA have requested permission to begin wetleasing the aircraft from 01 July. If their request is granted, I would imagine the aircraft will be flown in the day before. The Civil Aviation Authority is due to announce its decision to grant or deny permission very shortly.

soccerref750 a very warm welcome to the QR forum.

1. The last tour of the day is often oversubscribed. I cannot say that it will be that dy or not but as you suggest there are fewer passengers in transit at the moment and if this crisis continues then you should benefit from it! Also the big summer exodus will mostly hve finished by then also increasing your chances of places. Remember this bus tour includes a visa.
2. Should there be sold out when you reach the counter then as described in the DIY night tour it is not that difficult. Whilst the organised tour shows several different sights in Doha the self made tour has the distinct advantage that you have a greater depth of experiencing the Qatari people in a more leisurely manner.
If you make your own tour do remember to have some Qatari Rials with you. I have been told that the Souk Wajif market, like most other markets around the world, is cash only.

Hi Guys,

Does anyone know how to check/interpret the QR schedules to see if my outbound itin qualifies for STPC?

Saturday,29 July 2017

09:30 ARN
Stockholm,Arlanda Airport
16:35 DOH
Doha,Hamad International Airport
QR 170

Connection time : 11h 10 m

03:45 DOH
Doha,Hamad International Airport
05:20 AKL +1day
Auckland,Auckland Airport
QR920
Looking at the timetable for this date and destination combination, its the first one that is available with all other combinations having a greater trip duration. My mind tell me that it does quality for STPC?

Thanks for the help!

Is it possible, arriving from HND and transiting to BRU, to visit the QR J lounge in DOH upon leaving the aircraft, spend a couple of hours there, leave the airport on a QR transit visa, return later that day, visit lounge again and board the aircraft to BRU?

Also, what can I expect as a QR J passenger when transiting through DOH in terms of priority queues/al maha services/arrival lounge etc.?

Thanks in advance!

angeloedades you qualify for STPC because there is no later connection ARN-DOH to the same DOH-AKL flight.

To check times you can use the timetable function of the discover page. https://booking.qatarairways.com/nsp...bleIndex.xhtml.

Forget the STPC, and use the Plus Qatar programme instead.

Yes. This is exactly what I did.

But it isn't sign posted and it's quite confusing. You have to go to the transfers security floor and be escorted backwards through security.

tobitronics this is a frequent occurrence and the best description is http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/qatar...ht-tour-2.html especially post 18.

This information is available under the dashboard widget http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/qatar...h-airport.html and its subordinate threads.
