Status Match with Qatar Airways
 

Hi all,

Tried searching this in the forum - no luck yet.

I am Silver with Emirates and Gold with Etihad- never traveled Qatar, but for my next few flights QA is much cheaper and would like to try it, was wondering if QA does consider any status match requests at all, and if yes, what is the best way to do it - customer service email or phone contact - heard the cs of QA in not that gr8.

any advice much appreciated

I tried status matching from GF gold a couple of months back, and got a resounding 'no' from Qatar Airways by email.

Shame as their fares do look very competitive these days.

Please do, I would be interested to know as just a week ago they would not give 3 in business class (who travel every month UK, Asia, Brazil) a burgundy start when I'm already a Flying Blue platinum. Are you normally an economy flyer?

I was told to contact the local QR office for status match in Scandinavia.

And did you get it?

Haven't asked yet. I'll ask when I'm really gonna move my flights from TK to QR.

Any news on this one? I am *A Silver and have some QR upcomings. A status match would be perfect.

Unless you are going to fly QR a lot and/or business-first class their may be a better OW ff'p for you. Depends on your objectives from a ffp.

I dont get status matching. Why would QR for example give passengers free status for people who earned it using other airline programs? I see the benifits, but I also see disadvantages like getting a free ride on QR without flying with them.

You don't get 'free rides' based on your status.

Sorry I didnt mean free rides literally. I mean you would reach the top of the status bar without any effort or actually flying with QR (a free ride).

The assumption is that by having status with QR, you will fly more on QR, thus spending more with QR.
