Just checked the schedule list for JQ NZ.

AKL/WLG sector is pretty b0rked with only 2-3 times daily with barely enough time to make a decent day trip out of it. AKL/WLG must be a mugs game to try and make money out of (except for NZ, which I'm guessing has an incumbent grip on the marketshare for this sector.)

Certainly a lot of AKL/CHC flights. I don't know the NZ domestic market, but it seems it must be quite popular (competitive?) in crossing between the islands.

Pacific Blue have launched a "We're the Real Star" sale. Nothing from Air New Zealand yet.

Why am I not surprised. At least also with DJ you get status credits and points irrespective of fare. May be not much, but better than zilch.

Not for me mate; I've already booked a YUP run in the USA for June 6/7/8/9 ... I'm looking to second weekend in May (9/10).

They've now been reduced by another $1,

AKL-CHC $38
AKL-WLG $28 (Flights start from 24Jun09)
AKL-ZQN $68
CHC-WLG $28
CHC-ZQN $38

Guess they wanted to be cheaper than Pacific Blue.

Yeah right. Then add $10 for baggage and $2 for c/c charge, and we're back to the same game.

Pacific Blue: AKL-WLG $28 + $8 for 23kg baggage = $36 (no C/C charge?)
Jetstar: AKL-WLG $28 + $10 for Jetsaver 20kg + $2 C/C charge = $40, $38 if paid via BPay.

Don't know when Pacific Blue decided to lower their fares again. I thought they were going to stop doing this, since they've removed 5 Virgin Blue flights from service according to this thread.

I'm sure gofrey was referring to Virgin Blue - not Pacific Blue.

Pacific Blue still runs as a LCC where as Virgin brand them selves as a NWC...

Confused? Aren't we all!

Post

I have just been analysing the Jetstar domestic timetable post 23rd June.

If my calculations are correct then there will be one A320 parked up at CHC from about 15:10 onwards for the rest of the day.

Would this aircraft likely be for backup if problems arise?

There would seem to be enough time for this aircraft to complete a turn to either BNE/MEL or OOL and enable the afternoon SYD service (JQ150) to become daily. With some minor re-timing this could connect to QF31 (to SIN and LHR) and QF1 (to BKK and LHR). The morning SYD-CHC flight JQ143 is already timed to receive onward connections from LHR, SIN and BKK. If this (or something similar were to happen) we could possibly see QF45/46 dissapear.

Sorry for the rambling :P lol

I've probably missed this being posted and can't seem to find it mentioned - do you have a link / further details? Thanks in advance.
