We are experiencing connectivity difficulties.

"We are experiencing connectivity difficulties" is the error message I get when I try to check an award on qantas.com.au from MIA-YYZ-[stopover]-AKL, with the YYZ-AKL route at the 'Select your flights' step being YYZ-LAX-SYD-AKL.

I can get to the 'Review' step if I do those two routes individually, but not if I do them together. When I do try them together, as soon as I select the YYZ-AKL flight, the little points calculator thing appears to run for a second or two then up pops the error message.

Any thoughts from anyone on why that's the case?

I'd report it to Qantas - sounds like a bug in the software ...

Maybe feed back (http://qantas.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/q...nduser/ask.php) selecting "Website" and "Technical support" is the way to go.

I booked a very complicated trip for my daughter earlier this year and regularly got that message. I would immediately ring Qantas, explain the problem and the CSRs were fantastic. They would take over booking the awards and didn't charge me. Look at it as an opportunity to get the best seats/flights etc.

Ahh, OK. I'm suspicious that what drove the error message was the system's perception that my route breached a 'no second departure from one country' rule. i.e. I was to leave the US once from Miami, but the transit through LAX to get from YYZ to AKL counted as a second departure.

Unfortunately when I did ring Qantas about it I ended up with a CSR who sounded like she was in her first week - and it was all wayyyyy too complicated for her to wrap her head around.

Total change of plans now though anyway, so the point ultimately was moot ...
