Qantas A330 - 200 vs 300. Which is better for business class?

Just wondering if anyone has experienced J in both and could give an opinion on which is the better plane and configuration for privacy, sleep, noise, etc.

Cheers

From what I recall, there was no difference in terms of the seats, but the A332 had the J section split into two areas.

I've had seat 1J on both and found that people heading for the toilets made it a little less private than it could have been. I think the window seats in the middle of each section offer the best of what you're after, but little or no difference between the planes. They looked like they were identical vintages too.

Steer clear of rows 4,5,6 on the 332, as there is a very flimsy divider between J and the great unwashed.

I thought the A332 and A333 services were being changed so that the aircraft with the optimised range would operate the route from now on. This would mean that the A332 would operate long haul routes (e.g. PEK/BOM/AKL-LAX) and A333 mid haul routes (e.g. HKG, NRT).

They are commencing in the new year. 332 will operate BOM/PVG/PEK. 333 will operate SIN, HKG, NRT. 744 will take over all AKL-LAX.

So I take it the front cabin of 3 rows on the 332 is the better part of J to sit in?

Cheers

I'll be honest and say I never noticed it when I sat in 6b from NRT-SYD in Feb. The fact that I was "involuntarily" rerouted and upgraded also meant I didn't really care.:p

I thought the people in the front 3 rows had more interruptions from people heading forward to the toilets.

My experience as well. I never had a problem with the last rows in business class. But then again, I am not fuzzy with my seat selection anyway.

Yes. By mid FEB 2009 the A332s will replace A333s on all PVG and PEK services.

Apparently the spare A333s will then replace B763s on the MNL and CGK routes.

There are a few spare A333s now with QF135/136 SYD-NRT-SYD and 3x weekly MEL-NRT-MEL now canned.
