Four Eligible flight segments for Status

The travel required in each Membership Year to attain or retain Silver, Gold or Platinum status level must include a minimum of four Eligible Flight Segments on Qantas, QantasLink or Jetstar.
This implies that Jetstar Asia flights out of SIN fulfill this condition. Can anyone confirm this is true before I start doing silly mileage runs.

You would need to book JetFlex tickets (ie not the cheaper Jetsaver ones), but I can't see any issues with it.

I would call QF about this as Jetstar is not the same as Jetstar Asia. The way I read this is that Jetstar Asia would not count.
What mileage runs are you planning?

I doubt it. Jetstar Asia is a separate airline to Jetstar.

In the earning table, it only has one Jetstar listed:

Code:

Airline        Eligible Booking Class        Cabin Class        Base Rate        Cabin Class Bonus

Jetstar Airways (JQ) (3K) (VF)

Jet Flex        Economy                1        -
StarClass        Premium                1        25%
Status Credits are earned on all eligible Booking Classes. Flights operated by Jetstar Asia (3K) and Valueair (VF) do not offer StarClass.

However, the OP should contact Qantas to confirm.

That is in the mileage earning section. However in the status credits section of the T&Cs,

* You can only earn Status credits when flying on eligible Qantas, oneworld alliance airlines (American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, LAN, Malév Hungarian Airlines and Royal Jordanian), Air Pacific, Jetstar or QantasLink services. Status credits can be earned on flights operated by Jetstar Airways where a Qantas flight number is entered on your ticket when booked in Y, B, H, K or W class, or on a Jetflex fare.

Very simple, if you earn QFF points and/or SC's for a flight with Qantas, QantasLink, Jetconnect or Jetstar then it's an eligible flight and you'll get that ~ showing against your activity.

moa999 May 14, 2008 5:49 pm

3K and VF (the two codes used by Jetstar Asia/ OrangeStar etc that is ~45% owned by QF) has only recently been added to the SC earning table
so I think you have pointed out a slight inconcistency.

KF The mileage earning section says Jetstar Airways and includes the Jetstar Asia IATA code, The SC's table is less specific merely saying "Jetstar" not "Jetstar Airways", given the more specific example in the mileage table lists 3K it seems reasonable to assume 3K is eligble

Isn't the catch going to be "..... where a Qantas flight number is entered on your ticket..."?
Could you book under the QF codeshare without a connecting QF flight, if travel was entirely external to Australia (ie on Jetstar Asia)?

Jetstar Asia does qualify as eligible flights (providing you are on a Jetflex fare). I flew 3Q BKK-SIN last week and not only earned FFP but Stautus Credits too. Next to my status credits on my statement reads a ~symbol, indicating an eligible flight.

Thanks for the first hand info :)

Jetstar Asia qualifies

Thanks for the advice. I flew Jetstar Asia on a flex fare BKK SIN and got my "squiggle"

I booked online and got an exit row seat, which was fine. Plane was clean and on time. Two hour flight so I didn't eat anything, but plenty of food and drinks were offered for sale.

A better way to fulfill the four flights requirement than an expensive mileage run to Sydney.

Now that is definitely going to come in handy when I only make it as far as Asia and have to add some more segments on! ^
