QF 98 / Changing Equipment

Hi guys,

returning from my trip to Germany, I am booked on QF 98 HKG - BNE on Tuesday, 28.05.19. At the time of booking, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the Tuesday rotation (QF 97/98) seems to be a 789. Am flying in business and have seat 5k reserved.

I just checked my flights again this morning as I leave for Germany on Friday morning and noticed that today's flights QF 97/98 are being operated on an A333 and on Seatguru, the equipment for QF 98 on the 28th is no longer confirmed either. My booking on the QF website still shows the 789 as operating air craft on May 28.

Any one know if today's A333 is a one off or if there is indeed a good chance QF will substitute equipment on short notice from B789 to A333 on Tuesday in particular on my return date May 28 ?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Cheers,

Peter

I wouldn't trust seatguru as far as I can comfortably spit an elephant ; used to be a good site at one time

Expert Flyer still shows it as a 787-900 and the seat map seems to reflect a 787-900

For 25th to 31st May, EF shows that on Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday and Friday that the flight is being operated with an Airbus 330-300 and that Monday, Tuesday and Thursday that the flight is being operated with a Boeing 787-900

From what I can see, tonights flight ( Tuesday ) is being operated using a 787-900

Last Tuesday, the aeroplane that was used for QF127 was then used for QF98. If the same holds true today, then that would line up with QF98 being operated with a 787 tonight

Given that the J seats on the 789 and 333 are essentially identical, I don't see much cause for concern here. QF98 has indeed been alternating between these for a while now (I myself flew it on a 789 in March and on a 333 last week).

Thanks for your reply. Was just looking forward to my first QF 789, giving me the opportunity to compare it on the same trip to the A350 that is bringing me back from HEL to HKG.

Cheers from Brisbane,

Peter

If its a daytime flight and window views are important, then I’d opt for the A330 instead of the B787 in case the crew insist on darkening the windows and disabling the pax controls.

Looks like the 789 operates on Tuesdays based on FR24
