quickcheck improvements

Reading the latest improvements made to the system, this one looks awesome -

http://qantas.com.au/info/flying/atT...ort/quickCheck

"If you arrive early to check-in for your flight you now have the option to change to an earlier flight.* Simply select the 'Check availability on earlier flights' option and you'll be presented with a list of available flights up to five hours earlier than your original flight, but not inside 30 minutes"

Less human interaction - woohoo!

Next step is to get upgrades from it =)

The "but not inside 30 minutes" is a bit puzzling. If you are a walk on self loading cargo (ie pax with no checked luggage) why not cut of 15 minutes before. The chances of QF selling a vacnt seat in the last 30 minutes prior to departure are slight. 4 hours before they could get a (high $$)paying pax walk up

Would a change be dependant on the fare class purchased?

Just guessing here, but perhaps they set the 30 min limit since some of the Quick-Check machines are outside security and they want to ensure that the self loading cargo can get themselves and their carry-on from the Quick-Check machine, through security and to the gate comfortably in time.

And since the security lines can be quite variable, they don't want to be caught out with people arriving late to the gate.

I think that would be a fair enough assumption.

Checking in on an earlier flight is subject to conditions of fare purchased
