Alect congratulations on finding that.
Ok R9 is the booking class for Concorde awards, what is the booking class awards for the 744, even for Economy or Business.
Actually found some R9 on the 10 October from JFK to LHR,
and an airfare from Brisbane to JFK for $2615 AUD.

Hmm, all those letters reminds me EZLXQ. Does that mean anything to anyone?

Goon Show, Feb 28th 1957, Series 7, episode 21, entitled "Insurance - The White Mans Burden". Now, how does one know how to spell "penguin"?

I am arriving T3 at 1.20pm but likely to be picked up by Sydney friends and whisked away....doesn't look like it will work with you og!

But sadly you won't find those on seatmap.com or elsewhere on Galileo - only on BA's own systems.

U & X come up on ITN - sadly BA flights don't show up for some reason. But QF U & X come up.

This is the reason why alect - read Dave Noble's topic

Wouldn't be some derivation of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) 4-letter code would it??

ie. E = Europe, Z = Zurich (I don't know, pulling at straws here)??

Nothing that subtle. Just plane Milligan humour. Here is some of the transcript from he Goon Show in question:

(Characters:
S: Jim / Adolphus Spriggs
N: Neddie Seagoon)

<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">
S: I'll just make out this bill of sale. How do you spell penguin?
N: P-N-Guin.
S: How do you pronounce it?
N: P-E-N-G-U-I-N.
S: I'll write that down. E-Z-L-X-Q. Drat this pen! It can't spell.
N: Wait a minute, perhaps it's the ink that can't spell. Let me taste it.
S: Righto Jim, righto Jim.
N: P-E-N-G- No, no, this ink's all right.
</font>
and so it goes on.

I have remembered EZLXQ since my childhood as an alternate for spelling penguin. Unfortunately, my highschool English teacher didn't have the same respect for the Goons and failed to understand. Likewise, I failed English!

Hope you enjoy the trip as much as Hubby and I did.

Even if your fiance was joining you on the trip, I wouldn't have thought a trip on Concorde was the best way to join the mile high club. Not only was the toilet onboard, very small, but I've seen economy toilets left in a cleaner state by previous occupants!

jspear Sep 18, 2003 12:49 pm

So am I correct in surmising that QF sees three Concorde buckets -- R (full fare), A (??) and Z (award)?

Yes - I think there are also I and G but not sure what those are

QF WP Sep 18, 2003 4:08 pm

Isn't I class the discount J, not heard of G before....

Just had confirmed by Dave Noble (via ICQ) that G is a valid fare bucket on Concorde.

The Concorde really puts a strain on tall people. Firstly is the "duck" under the door in an effort to save a bash on the head, then there is the toilet. Sitting is OK, but just try standing. No wonder it's messy, but disappointing that people don't clean up after themselves! I thought Concorde passengers had enough respect for their fellow passengers...

There is award availability on BA2 JFK-LHR on Oct. 3rd, 4th, 10th and 16th right now. On the 3rd, BA4 JFK-LHR is also available. I just booked a seat online at ba.com and would assume QF can book them as well.
