Bird strike knocks out Qantas engine

A 737-400 ingested a bird about 15 mins after takeoff, and had to return to Darwin. Scary!

Scary? Not as scary as:

A bird ingested a 737-400 about 15 mins after takeoff, and had to return to Darwin.

nah ... what about:

A bird ingested a 737-400 about 15 mins after takeoff, and was able to continue its flight unconcerned...

How about a frozen chicken?

I don't even know where to go with this one... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif (and edited to fix UBB code)

Lets say the incident (brid v/s 737 or 737 v/s bird) occurred 15 minutes after t/o. Altitude would have been - say 25,000 feet. What sort of bird flies that high?

I wouldn't say the report is that accurate, penultimate paragraph reads

<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">
Qantas was still investigating what went wrong, ...</font>

I thought it was fairly obvious what went wrong, though I have no experience if the result was the usual side affect of a bird strike.
