Well cd, you certainly know how to make an entrance! You'll have everyone around here work themselves into a lather with talk of program changes.

I am uk based and new to all the FF programs. I have not joined the QF program as I am with the BA Exec Club program. I know that their program is going to change for UK members. I don't know if it will apply gobally as their scheme is global, but
I'd imagine it would. The above is all true. It'll be broadcast before the end of the year. The only bit that is rumour (ie I don't know for certain) is that the scheme is going to be less 'friendly' (for want of a better word). This would make sense as BA have done the same. |

from work, who have a relationship with Qantas.
I know if this isn't public knowledge yet and the fact that I am new may make this hard to believe but it is true. I can only say wait and see. I myself wanted to know more info but it is limited to 'a need to know basis' here at work so I thought I'd ask you guys if anyone else knows anymore. |

Originally posted by LHR/MEL/Europe FF: And me. (Add some more value to this post...) It won't surprise me if they change the program, given BA are changing theirs. It'll only be a surprise if they change it to be more user-friendly. On that basis, and given they've only changed it less than 2 years ago, I'll be disappointed if they do change it. Don't want to guess the whats/whens/hows etc... Let's start that when we see something substantial... |

Membership for UK residents always used to be very restrictive until the last big changes ... but as most of the QF FFs here probably have some sort of affiliation with Aus, it will probably only be a matter of changes their addresses back to a "friendly" Australian address which is no big issue.
|
My guess is that they're unlikely to get away with changing anything for Australian residents, because of their delicate regulatory position at the moment. In the last change they equalised the position of residents of all countries, so any anti-UK discrimination would quickly be seen for what it is. And I'll bet you that many UK-based members would then quickly flee back to Australia, where they originally "hailed from" for FF purposes.

Count me in as mostly from London. (Must hedge my bets in case there are changes.)
If QF really wants to stem the flow of UK-based (and probably US-based) FFs coming from the BA scheme so they can use the generous economy earning rules in the QF scheme, I hope it's limited to something like enforcing the 4-QF segments a year rule, or maybe upping it to minimum 100 status credits a year on QF or some such. Otherwise I'm emigrating again. |
Nice lead CD. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Perhaps cd really does know somebody on the inside...(QF that is, not the other!!!)
Now for their next premonition... |
