Perth to Berlin

Hi All,
Just booked a ticket from Perth to Berlin. Going via Hong Kong and Helsinki. I am still only a Silver/OW Ruby and don't get any entitlements really.
I sent an e-mail to Qantas asking if they could show some leeway, because my flight is in December and Jan this year. My status credits get reset on the 30th of Nov. Qantas actually called me back. No chance. The lady from Qantas Customer Service said that recently they had been tightening up Comp's etc etc to customers.
I was going to join the QC, but not worth it as l don't have access to Cathy Pacific lounges and in Helsinki, nothing. I can't justify a corporate 2 year QC for $700.
Anyone have any other ideas???? Such a long haul flight

If the flight length and access to club lounges is a concern, have you thought about travelling QF to Heathrow then BA to Berlin?
Alternatively, for a few more dollars, QF5 to Frankfurt then fast ICE train to Berlin, first class.
Total time for both trips would be about the same.

i did consider going via LHR. But the prices of this ticket (only $2000 - total/Cathay Pacific/Finn Air) is alot cheaper than any BA or QF flight combo. Oh well, to late, already paid for.

German train special 29 euros one-way from/to anywhere in Germany if booked in advance see www.db.de

Makes QF SIN-FRA more useful, would have gone that way

don' think so. l looked everywhere for cheap tickets. Anytime close to x-mas, costs money.
This cathy + finn air came in close to $1000 cheaper than anywhere else.
Only problem is that if l do QP, won't get lounge access other than BA and Q Domestic. Kinda rip off

If you are really keen on lounge access at HKG (at a cost), maybe try using the The Travellers Lounge. I can't vouch for it, but it is an option.

Not recommending QP membership, but just to correct the facts: you get international lounge access to all lounges that QF uses outside of Australia that are labeled "Qantas Club" (these include LAX, BKK and soon NRT, not 100% sure about HKG but I think QP does give admission to this joint QF/BA lounge. Also get access to AA lounges when flying AA, and BA lounges when flying BA (so about 100 additional lounges). But for a single trip it is much cheaper to buy day passes at the airport (many lounges sell passes for circa USD50 per day, though the better ones do not). At HKG there are at least 2 options for bought lounges and showers, check the airport web site. Similarly at HEL. Or buy Priority Pass, which has lots of different airline lounges (not that I am recommending that, either).

I believe everything in Asia technically is actually QF and BA just lease the space from QF as part of JSA. - HKG included.

Have you looked at Priority Pass? Might be worth investigating for that trip.

You may check the Lufthansa flights FRA-TXL.
They can be booked as oneways and if booked in advance, they are not so expensive.

Luggage can be checked through.
