Booking Problems

I am trying to make a number of changes to my itinerary using Qantas FF points. I am not experiencing any problems finding information on seat availability for Qantas however the minute I ask for international AA flights to Latin America the system goes down. This has happened every day now for a little over a week. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem?.
I have already confirmed seats but need to make some changes and fear that the tickets will be issued before-hand. As I have already paid the relevant taxes, is there any way to put the issue of tickets on hold until I make the relevant changes?. Thanks.

Have you tried calling QF reservations and speaking to a real person?

What system are you saying "goes down"? You can only view QF flights on the QF FF on-line award booking system.

Perhaps that is because of QF web site having to link to the AA system? I've never heard of it going down so regularly..perhaps there is a linkage problem.

I've flown AA from Belo Horizonte (Brazil) (can't remember code) to MIA - was 2 years ago, 3 weeks prior to Sept 11. Was an excellent flight.

Hope you get your flights fixed..as NM said, ring and talk to QF REs about the award ticketing.

The website doesn't allow you to make changes, they have to be done by a real person.

What I think he is getting at is the computer sitting in front of the real person going down whenever they try and change the AA sectors.

Remember that computers going down is a ploy undertaken by those in the IT industry to ensure continues employment. It is perfectly possible to make a computer 100% reliable and simple to use, but if that was done, unemployment in the IT industry would sky-rocket.

So whenever you experience computer systems problems remember that you are helping to reduce unemployment in the IT inductry http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif.

Thanks for the replies. Dave, spot on. I do talk to real people but AA flights are the problem. Information on Qantas and Lan Chile flights is easily obtained but everytime I attempt to make a change to an AA flight I am informed the "system goes down". My wife rang up the other day and was informed that AA was making changes to their flights in that fewer planes would be flying but they were replaced with larger ones. Something to do with security in the event of war. Then yesterday I hear that Qantas may be retrenching up 2500 people in the event of war. Not sure what or who to believe but at the end of the day I do have confirmed flights even though not all are as I want them. Thanks to all.

Remember that AA had some aircraft called into military service (see threads in AA forum). This is affecting some services and some aircraft changes are resulting.
