Airliners.net
http://www.airliners.net/ - anyone else post there in the forums? If so, what nicks do you use?
"thadocta" is mine (seriously, it is, I know you all find it hard to believe - I can scarcely believe it myself - but truely, it is. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif ) Dave |
I lurk there....but have yet to post. The quality there is quite variable, from being very good to utter crap!! Have to be selective in what you read.
I have noticed that some post their same trip reports there and on this board http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif ------------------ kpc |

Some read both though, and would like to know who is who. Dave |
Why should I tell you? If you have been reading real carefully you could find out.
Unless you sign up for first class membership which is $5.00 per month, then no new users are allowed to post. The good thing with airliners.net there is a lot more traffic than this site. I was talking to someone on the weekend who had heard of airliners.net but had never heard of flyertalk.com Also when you I asked about the age thing Thadocta was the one person who had listed in his age profile at airliners.net so I was more interested in finding out the others. ------------------ You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it. |

A.net *used* to be a good spot about 4 years ago. Cluey people, a *lot* of those "in the biz" from drivers to groundies, and decent informative posts/discussions. It went to the dogs about two years ago when all the 14-18 year olds (who know everything about airline economics and the aviation industry) moved in en masse. The learned people left because of the dribble that was allowed to remain posted (such esteemed threads like "What do you prefer on board - Coke or Pepsi?" and "Which airline has the sexiest FA's" not to mention "Why nobody fly Anchorage - London nonstop? It's a good route" and other such notables.) Not so much the topics itself, but the amount of crap topics that literally flooded the board, as well as the "absolute truth" of absurd rumours or totally incorrect operations - "I know it's true that UA are selling all of their 737's because my friend's older brother's girlfriend who works for a catering company told him." Then the kids decided to see who could post the most when the post counters came on line - lot's of threads with a reply consisting of a smiley only and other such rot.
It really did die and the kids were left to their toy. I think reality hit Johan about 10 or so months ago when he stopped new members (some kids had 3 or more nicks) and since then, the quality is slowly (very slowly) starting to rise again. The ratio of good threads/posts is climbing against the idiots. Kids being kids, they've either matured or tired of the a.net "fad". I have now started looking in there more often again after giving it a rest for quite some time. (Yes - I was a silly young thing once as well!) |
I'm been the membership of the airliners.net for three years. Most of the members are very immature and not thinking at all...Most of them are teenagers and they think that they know the aviation and airlines business very well better than anyone! Of course it's not true! I have decided to keep away from them and I'm no longer behave a teenager anymore!
If you complainted or hated about it, then go to see www.airwhiners.net |

I also post on airliners but not very often. My main use of the site in the near future will be somewhere to post my photos. So far i ahve only attempted to upload one, and that was accepted. I do find that most of the topics end up being Airbus v Boeing or SQ v CX or something like that and tends to get a bit boring after a whiles.
Cheers |
Well...It doesn't sound like Singapore_Air as I don't talk to him much! LOL...But I said "most of them"!

Well, I have to admit that I joined a.net when I was 16. (Now I'm 18)
But I don't tend to be the "experts", cause I'm not. But I still think the overall quality has gone down dramatically despite the "restrictions to accept members". Surprisingly, then don't listen to negative comments, all they want is to be praised. They don't have the word "shame" or "improvement" on their dictionary. They even hire some 15 or 16y/o to be the chat moderator, plus some immature people (who are under 25, but not all)to be the forum crew. I really think this is a joke. Getting more moderator and crews makes the quality of the site even worse. By the way, I'm Bigo747 on airlines.net, shared by 3 people, but I'm the most active. So if you got comments or suggestiongs, don't hesitate to e-mail me! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif <font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">Originally posted by Al B: A.net *used* to be a good spot about 4 years ago. Really! I didn;t realise that Singapre_Air comes from Singapore.
jiml1126...is it your nickname in chatroom? I saw you were there!! Bigo747..sounds familiar to me as I have read lots of your posts! |
I've let this thread run for a while - but keep in mind this section of the forum is about Qantas Airways Frequent Flyer programme. If you want to keep discussing this topic, it's probably best in Travel Buzz - please email me if you want it to continue.
