Seating preference online
 

I have just had a look at my profile on qantas.com and noticed that it no longer includes my seating preferences http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif Has this functionality disappeared from the site or is it missing due to my lowly status (QC Silver). Does this also mean that I'm now going to be stuck down the back of the plane in a window seat and not my preferred forward aisle?

It disappeared a while back from the website. You still get preferred seating, it is just that there is now no way to change it on line for QC Bronze or Silver members, only for Gold and Platinum.

If you wish to check your preferences, you can phone them on 131 131 and they will tell you what is in the system.

I'm a Qantas Club Bronze and it's got seating preferences in there for me, though didn't when I was plain Bronze. So I guess if you're prepared to shell out the money for Qantas Club membership then it'll appear for you too (and hey, the food and drinks certainly add to the appeal - though if you're going for Gold then you won't need to worry about paying for it!)

I went from Bronze (no seating in profile) to Qantas Club Bronze (seating in profile) to Qantas Club Bronze (no seating in profile) to Qantas Club Silver (no seating in profile) to Gold (seating back in profile).

I actually posted about it here a few months back, and others came back with the same results - no seating preferences ON-LINE for Bronze or Silver, but still there for Gold and Platinum (consistent with what I found).

Seems like they may have fixed it form some QC members.

GibSpmuh - I am actually a QC member with silver status. My experience is similar to what Dave described - it was there, it went, it came back and now has gone again. Ah well, maybe it's just Qantas' way of keeping us on our toes and to keep looking at their webpage !!!

My wife is QC bronze and the seating preference is available but me as a lowly bronze (without current QC membership http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif), it is not available.
