Starwood to Quantas Conversion

I had two questions about the SPG:Quantas conversion:

1. Is the 2:1 conversion rate a temporary rate or a permanent one?

2.How many points can you transfer out of SPG in one day? Is it limited to 20k, or can you transfer 20k multiple times in a day?

Thanks.

Permanent. That is until Starwood changes the rules, but at least there is no expiration date at this point.

All the limits are per 24 hrs. You may also want to read this thread:

You can transfer up to 39999 a day but if you do this you'll only get one 5000 mile bonus. This applies for transfers to QANTAS....Quantas Airways probably has a different redemption schedule.

Things have changed. I transferred 60,000 Starwood points to QF in one shot today (apparently the new daily limit is 500,000) and got the 15,000 bonus points without a problem. Faster, easier, nice.

Where did you find the new information regarding the limit being raised in terms of point transfers/day? My checking of the website doesn't show this info, and in fact re-confirms for me that in order to come in under the 100K QF points that would be generated (by maximizing the 2:1 ratio, while simultaneously gaining the maximum *wood bonus) you are still limited to 20k *wood points / day. If you have other information, please do share.....
My concern is that you've been told bad info by a CSR who may have cost you the actual posting of your QF points. Best Wishes.

The daily limit is still published as being 99,999. That's 39,999 SPG points max for SPG-QF transfers.

60,000 SPG points would convert to 150,000 Qantas points. Please let us know when you actually see the points in your QF account. I'd be curious to see if this is reality.

PHL -
You're right that the daily limit is still 39,999 as I see it on the website,,,,but note that a transfer of this amount would NOT maximize the bonus of 5000 per 20000 points transferred. That was what I referred to earlier. Best Wishes.

I'd double check with Starwood if I were you. When this deal was first brought to my attention, I didn't know about the maximum points per day, and I too transferred over 50,000 points. I received the confirm on the Starwood site (but NO E Mail confirm--at that time I didn't know to look for one. A week later my Starwood balance still was not showing the deduction-- I called SPG and was then told of the restriction on daily transfers. I then had to start all over again, which naturally caused a delay in receiving points in QF!

I just tried transferring - will not allow more that 39,999 at a time. Either you got lucky when there was a malfuction in the system or you might have to call and manually get the points posted.

So what is the rule here ?

If I transfer 20k SPG, do I get 45k QFF ?

If so, then that is a great way to transfer AMEX MR. ie, 1 MR = 1 SPG = 2.25 QFF

I think for every 20'000 Starwood you transfer you get 50'000 Qantas Miles. 25% bonus on every 20'000 transfered to any of the mileage programs.

MikeFly Jun 5, 2002 9:29 pm

QFMillions If you get 1 to 1 on MR to *wood in OZ then keep it quiet. Here in the U.S. it is 3MR to 1*wood point http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Where did you find the new information regarding the limit being raised in terms of point transfers/day?

I confirmed the information verbally with two different starwood agents (as I have done two transfers recenty). They both told me that this was a new rule change. I have the name and extension of one of the agents (just in case). My personal account information on the spg site indicates the point transfer along with appropriate bonus points going through. Nothing with QF as it's early days.

So far no problems...

Talking to SPG customer service yielded me the same answer! I appreciate the information, although I remain skeptical based on comments that others have made on this board recently, and since my transfer requirements are limited, I'll stick with what I know HAS worked for me..Nonetheless, thanks much for the valuable info!! Best Wishes.

I agree. he 20K per day transfer got the 5K bonus without a hitch. Probably makes sense to cross-post this new development and get confirmation from Starwood Lurker.

Having transferred high six figures to QF, I'd be grateful for a higher daily transferamount AND get the bonus for each 20K
