Quick way to get 285 miles?
I really want to upgrade a flight, but I am 285 miles short (upgrade costs 40,000 miles). Is there anything I can do to get the 285 miles. I won't have time to take another flight to get them, and my credit card statement just closed, so I can't do that either. Any help would be greatly appreciated! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I think I found it for you.
<http://www.avis.com.au> Avis is delighted to announce that from 1 May 2002, it will join the Qantas Frequent Flyer program - you'll earn Qantas Frequent Flyer points for every eligible rental with Avis around the world. To celebrate, for rentals commencing between 1 May and 31 July 2002, you'll earn a minimum of 500 points every day when you rent a Holden Commodore (Group E), Calais (Group G), Statesman (Group H), or a Rover 75 (Group L) or a Tarago (Group V) - (or any other cars from these car groups) - at 4200 Avis locations globally. Please note that you must include your Qantas Frequent Flyer number in your reservation. |
For 285 miles a rental car or a night in participating hotel would be quickest for least cost. Look up the stuff they send all us FF's
You also get points at Thrifty. For your 285 miles it would worth checking for the best deal from all the rental car companies for a car (or even a truck!!). Even if you park the thing it amy be worth the $50-$100 is will cost. |
All I can say Is "Tom", "Paraburdoo" and "Price", not necessarily in that order.

Dont know how long you have to get the points but what about the wine club or the insurance deal!!!!
how about a watch!!! Really the quickest is the qantas visa card but you said they have just closed the month. I find them VVVEEERRRRYYYYYSSSLLLLLOOWWW to transfer to the rewards centre then its only a couple of days once it is in there. they really need to get their act together. Amex is very quick. you buy soomething its in there straight away. I would get an amex card for emergencies like this!!! |

Dave</font> After this afternoon's SYD-BNE flight, I'll be just 10 tier credits short of Platinum requalification. But I am sure I will do another flight between now and 30 September, so I won't be needing to take the bus. |
Is it just me or are people having problems getting these 'flights' to show; let alone price? The booking engine just keeps spitting the dummy.
