Finnair & Oneworld partner Qantas are to cooperate
Finnair & Oneworld partner Qantas are to begin cooperation on flights between Finland and Australia 6/1/00, according to the Finnish carrier. The agreement covers Finnair flights from Helsinki to Bangkok and Qantas flights to Melbourne, and back. Another route covered will be the Finnair flight from Helsinki to Singapore and further to Sydney with Quantas, and back.
Finnair will have 4 weekly flights from Helsinki via Bangkok to Singapore. These flights will depart from Helsinki at 11.35 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, arriving in Bangkok at 1.40 p.m. on the following day.
Codeshare flights from Helsinki to Melbourne via Bangkok will take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, because Qantas has no flights from Bangkok to Melbourne on Mondays.
The cooperation flight of Qantas and Finnair QF006/AY5886 will leave Bangkok at 5.15 p.m., and arrive in Melbourne at 4.45 a.m. on the following day. Thus, the travelling time between the countries will take 22 hours and 10 minutes.
The return flight will leave Melbourne on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 5.00 p.m., and land in Bangkok at 11.00 p.m. The Finnair flight from Bangkok will depart at 0.10 a.m. and arrive in Helsinki at 7.00 a.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Mondays. The flight will take 21 hours.
They will start co-operation flights between Singapore and Sydney in the beginning of June. Codeshare connection from Helsinki to Sydney is possible from all Finnair Singapore flights four times a week.
The Finnair flight continuing from BKK to Singapore will leave Helsinki at 11.35 p.m., and arrive in Singapore on Wednesdays, Fridays, Sundays and Mondays at 6.15 p.m. These flights will have left Helsinki in the previous evenings.
The codeshare continuation flight from Singapore will leave at 8.00 p.m., and reach its destination at 5.10 in the next morning. The travelling time from Helsinki to Sydney is 22 hours and 35 minutes.
The flight QF123/AY5893 will leave on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 12.30 and arrive in Singapore at 6.45 p.m. From there on, the Finnair flight AY098 will continue via Bangkok to Helsinki at 9.35 p.m., and arrive in Helsinki at 7.00 a.m. in the following morning.
This agreement is naturally subject to Government approvals.
