What champagne in FIRST?

Will be travelling the first segment of a One World Explorer ticket from JFK-LAX on QF 108 this week. Anyone know the champagne on the USA-AUSTRALIA flights in first this month? Seems to be a very large variance...

Last week it was Dom Perignon as was the week before.

Just flew JFK-LAX on QF 108 in first. CHAMPAGNE was Heidseick... Quite good. Excellent flight. I forgot how great it was to take a transcon flight in a 747... trip report to follow in trip reports section...

How refreshing to see someone rate vintage Heidsieck as quite good (I agree); most posters seem disappointed when it isn't Dom.

Yes I really liked the Heidsieck. It had a difference to the Dom and Krug that set it apart. OK, it doesn't have the reputation but a very nice drop that just begs you to have one more!

Enjoy tinkybelle :)

If it's not Krug, I'm not drinking it!

Makes the journey worthwhile.

Clearly a sophisticated individual. Most Champagne drinkers are label drinkers who like to be 'seen' to be drinking luxury Champagne rather than enjoying the World's greatest Sparkling wine for its inherent qualities. A truly great wine region producing a multiplicity of styles. ^

Reminds me of a conversation I once had with Greg Doyle (chef at Sydney's iconic Pier restaurant) where he said it was not uncommon for groups of businessmen to drink recently released Grange with oysters and delicate fish dishes. Noice.

Still, each to their own.
