There goes my SPG mattress run plans . Gold coast it a bit too far considering I wont have a car.

I am surprised SPG does not have a hotel at all in a city like BNE

Maybe I need to join the Hilton program

Still not def that I will be coming, but if I do, I will be staying the night, so I guess there will be a few people doing that also. I will not have lounge access of any sort so will need to be guested please.

Starwood divested itself of branding for three major Oz/NZ properties in 2005.

The Brisbane Sheraton become the Sofitel on 1st Feb. (The Auckland and Melbourne Sheratons became Langhams).

The Sofitel is not a bad property; nor is the Conrad Treasury.

There's a Holiday Inn and a few other Accor properties.

Updated post#1 to here.

Downunder girl, some of us made cameos in GoldFlyer's epic story on Mother. I remember chuckling with mirth over it's every page. He has a way with words, our GoldFlyer does...

I will be returning back to SYD on QF541 at 15:15 the next day Sunday.
I'm currently booked to stay at the Hilton though I haven't really looked around yet. Still very much open to ideas.

Returning to Mel on Sunday afternoon on QF621 dep 1250.

I would have stayed at the Hilton or Holiday Inn but I booked during the Qantas Holidays 10,000 bonus FF points offer and with flights and hotel stay I should earn over 13,000 FF points.

I think serfty is also staying at the Mercure so possibly dinner that night! Plenty of time to organise something....

Thanks Skoogle - look forward to catching up with you.

I thought I would do a recce for our members flying up on QF175 - so I took it on Saturday. Met up with a couple of AFF members and escorted one into the First Lounge.

First impressions - brilliant. Loved the breakfast area and waiter service with view to the open kitchen, along with the Library and lots of computers (and even private work rooms). Loved the old fashioned flight departure "clicker" at the top of the escalator.

Not so hooked on the seating (shape) and shape of the wooden beams, just not my taste.

Did get the pleasure of seeing the SQ A380 taxiing past as I walked to the plane (on final call) and saw it take off while seated onboard waiting for us to leave the Gate. Presume that it was an on time departure for the A380's flight, so might make a photo opportunity.

I was also trying QF175 today - however when we arrived at T1 we were told "delayed until 16:00". Moved to QF512...

Sod it - the 2nd time I've missed the T1 FLounge!

checkmytrip is showing all seats in zone A as occupied and only a few spare on the upper deck. It doesn't leave much room for us to shuffle around. Presently I'm in 18K but could have sworn I was in 11K when I made the booking.

Checkmytrip is most likely not correctly distinguishing between blocked seats and allocated seats.

Expertflyer is showing 1A and 1J as being taken, the rest free in Zone A.

Upstairs, 12A, 12K, 13K and 18K are taken.
