Yeah, does seem rather strange, and will also turn SIN into even more of a QF-hub than it currently is, with the QF 9, QF 31 and QF 5 all departing SIN for Europe at around te same time. I wonder about how beneficial it will be to have QF 5 and QF 31 both operating SYD-SIN at around the same time (late afternoon/early evening)....

NS06 schedules will also see QF31 to become a daytime departure (1655hrs) ex SYD as the QF29 will offer the evening departure ex Oz.
Hmm, I'm booked onto QF30 LHR-HKG-SYD on 30APR. I'm guessing this flight is now going to operate LHR-HKG-MEL. Huh. I'd been looking forward to checking out this service, guess I'll be switched onto another flight...

Grrrrr.

Grrrrr.

I can't say that often enough. The late departure ex-SYD was great for all sorts of things, best of all a farewell dinner with friends between WLG-SYD and SYD-LHR.

This will also now put an end to my middle-of-the-night visits to the F lounge in SIN, I suppose.

I am actually all in favour of the recently announced soon to be introduced changes. It solves a number of problems I have with an HKG stopover with MEL being the turn around point.

Very happy to see F on the HKG-MEL sector and happy that QF are not dropping another flight and turning QF into even more of a SYD centric airline.

HKG is also my preferred stop over point.

That's good; at least now both MEL and SYD will get civilised morning departures out of LHR

I find it a little strange that the new QF 29 & 30 will not really connect in HKG to any of the flights in HKG from PER, SYD & BNE except the QF 188 HKG-SYD which is of little use as QF 32 takes care of LHR-SYD traffic at this time.

I would have though some alignment with feeder flights from the smaller cities would have made the loads more viable.

Of course if you are stopping in HKG the options become greater from all Australian ports.

With QF88 now gone there is no evening departure from HKG to MEL - the replacement from LHR QF30 departs 9am daily.

This means that travellers from China or wanting evening departure will not meet this flight and be forced to go via SYD on QF128 - good business for CX who still have there evenings departures (although one is via ADL).

I'm considering trying WT+ on a quick trip MEL-SIN before BA pulls out... anyone think it's worthwhile?

If you have a need to go to SIN, then BA WT+ is definately a decent way to travel without ponying up for J/F

No I don't have a "need" to go to SIN (unless you count cheap gin for my mum!)... just thought I'd try WT+ before BA pull out...

Don't bother then. Just wait till you have a reason to go and then take BA ex SYD
