Comprehension exercise
Study this conversation and then answer the questions that follow:
QF22 business class passenger to FA [casually]: When will we be getting Skybeds on the Tokyo route? QF22 FA [somewhat agitated]: That's something for Qantas to decide. You'll have to ask them. Frankly we'll be glad when they put them on this route. We get asked that question at least once every flight. Questions: 1. Which airline do you think the FA works for? Which airline does the FA think he works for? Which airline should he work for? 2. Discuss the view of customer service that this FA subscribes to. 3. Comment on the significance of "we" and "they" as used by this FA. 4. What are the specific improvements in in-flight amenity that Skybeds would bring to FAs on the Tokyo route? 5. Name one other category of persons carried on QF21/22 for whom Skybeds could potentially bring identifiable benefits. |
Are you a school Head Teacher antiqantas ?!? You have a most peculiar posting style, with the kind of 'humour' I have not encountered since I was last in a school geography class. ;) And you don't like QF much do ya ? (Wonder how I worked that out ?!? :) )

Hmm I dont think UA or CX fly directly between Australia and Tokyo.

Anyone with half a brain that has ever flown this route knows that flights are not in high demand. Proof is on the qantas website with the amount of economy AND business award seats available. 100% of the time I've flown on paid tickets between au and jp ive been able to upgrade no problem and biz has never been full... or economy for that matter.. Qantas is a public company and the descions they make need to be financially justified. It makes perfect sense that they wouldnt give a toss about putting skybeds on every flight on this route. I wouldn't either! |

Despite guidance from willyroo, I can't resist sending down a bit of bait. Airlines are like TV's - you don't like whats showing - TURN IT OFF |

Some of the incidents I've witnessed, and been told about, have left me almost in a state of shock. When I think how courteously I'm treated on CX, MH, SQ, KA, 9W, OZ, KL, etc., I feel profound shame that our airline treats our visitors the way it does. A significant proportion of QF employees have no business being employed as a front-line representative of their country (as FAs are by default). Yet responsibility for this situation sits squarely with the management of the airline, who, as far as I can tell, have zero concern or even awareness of this shameful situation and no intention to do anything about it. I've given up submitting complaints to the airline as they are intercepted by some low-level manager and go absolutely nowhere, and in any case there is no recognition of the need for fundamental changes in the way that FAs and other employees are selected and trained.
One of the worst incidents that I have observed, of FAs mistreating passengers, was a CX FA abusing a mainland Chinese passenger, in the days before China took over Hongkong, so I don't think that QF is alone in this. Willyroo, if Antiqantas is a troll, my apologies, but having reviewed his earliest posts I don't think that is the case. QF can certainly p**s people off, and I know from speaking with friends and colleagues that his opinions are fairly widespread. |
