I have a feeling that the cheaper fare will turn up on the booking engine soon.

It's only the OzSenior fare that should be unavailable.

May wait till closer to launch to see if it turns up!

An even cheaper fare would be nice. I was talking about purchasing the $305 fare for $277

Although Dave has already answered this, the answer should be available from CASA.

Didn't realise there would be such a Travel Agent commission on these flights.

As I read it, there were five types of fares:

OzFlex, OzBiz, OzSaver, OzSenior and OzChild.

Assumed you meant you could buy OzSaver from a TA (or other sources if you knew someone who had GDS access!). Maybe there is a cheaper price available for ozSaver if you are friends with someone in the know!

The $305 includes taxes. There is a well known 10% tax that is avoided when a ticket is purchased outside of Australia

If you own a business in Oz, that 10% becomes an "input tax credit" and effectivly does not exist.

O7 seems an old airline code - would they have deliberately chosen it as some marketing spin to lock into their logo, why not two letter coding?

Aus_Mal Nov 11, 2005 9:15 pm

I agree that O7 is a little weird.

However, OZ was already taken. OJ doesn't seem to be taken - but they may not have wanted to be compared to Orange Juice and/or confused with DJ.

Some marketing type probably has a reason for it. They probably then designed their logo around the O7 bit...

Unfortunately, the 'OJ' designator is taken as well by Overland Airways Limited of Nigeria. This leaves OzJet with little choice since all two letter codes that begins with O has been taken up already.

Have a look here under 'airline codes'...
