Kiwi Flyer, ZK-JNG operates its last flight today, as QF4171 AKL-CHC. Can't confirm whether ZK-JNO has the J seats, so will need you to fly on her to to let me know, or I will need to wait to hear some more news at a later date. ...
Yep, now scheduled for a departure 11 hours later than originally; forcing somewhat of an equipment reassignment. JNG has a bit more to do than originally planned and now finishes today with QF4161.

Nothing for JNG tomorrow ...

Kiwi Flyer, it "seems" ZK-JNO has kept its 130Y configuration after returning from MEL, but I am hoping that you may be able to fly on her sometime soon, so you can confirm to me that it is indeed 130Y.

Thanks

JNO finally departed MEL for CHC at 1pm the following day; it then flew as QF4174 to WLG that same day (>24 hours late).

JNG had to fly another 8 flights on Friday ...

The ex-JQ 717-200s stored at Brisbane Airport will be transferred to Tamworth (medium-term storage) within the next month due to problems with aircraft corrosion at BNE Airport.

It would be nice to hear something about plans for the 717-200s post storage

Rumours are still rife about the 717s being transferred to National Jet (WA, NT, QLD ops) or being transferred to Melbourne and Sydney for Tasmanian flights (i.e. QFLink scrap DH8/3 to LST and replace with 717-200).

Cheers

I do hope that the 717s are put to good use. They are still relatively new aircraft and very quiet if your down the front of the aircraft!

It seems we have a sighting: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showp...7&postcount=25

ZK-JNG flew to MEL from CHC today as QF6171, arriving ~11:30am.

So we now know that ZK-JNO still retains its 130Y configuration!

Interestingly, VH-OJE operated SYD-AKL-SYD yesterday (20/12 | QF43/44).
Code:
VH-OJE QF0043 20/12/2006 12:10 Qantas B747-438 Sydney-Auckland
VH-OJE QF0044 20/12/2006 19:11 Qantas B747-438 Auckland-Sydney

1 A330-200 now remains in the Qantas mainline domestic fleet, namely VH-EBA.

Below is VH-EBA's daily schedule for the next few months* (until JQ services to/from Osaka commence late March):
Code:
SYD-MEL
MEL-SYD
SYD-PER
PER-SYD
VH-EBC ceased operations with Qantas mainline not too long ago and now sports the white JQi livery as can be seen here +. Honolulu services commence next week and VH-EBC will recommence flying also within the next week.

* Subject to change at any stage

Post #1 has now been amended...

How many 747-300 do they need for PER ops and the stand-in for 747-400 flights?

Well it looks as if the 747-300 will be staying around for longer and that VH-EBT will get a "D" check. From reports of the PER runs that QF must be filling them up pretty well.

IIRC, sometime between July and August 2007.

Thanks for posting Blackcloud, that is most certainly very interesting news!

Regarding the A380 delay, Qantas CEO Geoff Dixon told this website that the airline is "considering" rolling out its A380 interior product in its 747-400 fleet as Singapore Airlines did earlier this month with its 777-300ERs
ATW Online

Sounds good... but of course would be messy as Zone A on the 744 would impose restrictions on the seat size etc.

Cheers

Qantas NZ (JetConnect) is suspending WLG-CHC flights from March (see other thread).

No real surprise given JNO was withdrawn recently. There just arent enough aircraft left to service its current NZ domestic schedule on-going and allow for the "occasional" aircraft in maintenance. Will now be reviewing whether I stick with Qantas AKL-CHC only or just move all my travel to Air NZ which has more regular schedules anyway.

I wouldnt be surprised if Qantas withdraws from NZ Domestic completely or replaces current service with Jetstar (although I cannot see many cost saving advantages over JetConnect of this).

Actually JNO is back in service; it replaced JNG. See posts 93-100, 103 & 104 of this thread for more information.

I believe the WLG-CHC flight were suspended to free up an aircraft to take passengers betwixt AKL and BNE with QF125/QF126 becoming a daily JetConnect service from 11Mar. This was because the QF115/QF116 Service is going to be downgraded in capacity from 254 to 168 PAX (763->73H) from the same date.

Can confirm they have arrived - staying in Tamworth for remaining period of lease before going back to the US. Engineers are visiting once a week to kick the engines over.
