Longreach!
I could finally go to the QF Museum there, but it means I will have to go to BNE Lets see if SWMBO would like to go there for a little post-Xmas trip.

BNE-LRE is the only one that is over 600miles, and hence zone two.

Next best is BNE-BCI at 554 mi.

See Great Circle Mapper

The $59 flights aren't too bad for SC's either. $118 for 20 SCs.

I've booked a Fri out, Sat back trip for myself in Feb. Should be a nice chance to check out the museums (only about 5 1/2 hours though!), have a few beers with some locals and 'relax' in the mid 30 degree weather. Now to decide where to stay. Have a thread on AFF trying to decide

It's a pity the fares aren't available on a Sun arvo back to BNE. Would've been nice to have > 24 hours there with only one night's stay.

Could we make this a mini-FT Fest?
Of course I would have to check to see if SWMBO would notice I did not make it to see my friends in SYD that weekend.

Not one Sunday during the sale period has any revenue availability of less than $300 for flight to LRE and $260 for the return.

Interestingly most Sundays do have award availaibilty. Hmmm.. 12K points +++ for a 613 mile trip.

Oh well I cannot make it as I just saw the times of departure from BNE. I will look for a trip there when I have firmer plans about my next holiday in Australia.

Yep. Same deal as the last super sale to Longreach. I presume the Sun night flight ends up with a lot of business people/late bookings and they don't want to discount the valuable seats.

As I said earlier in this thread, it's a real pity. Didn't want to stay 2 nights at Longreach, so I'm there ~12pm to 9am. Weather, late plane etc could easily ruin the plans to visit the 2 museums as they both close at 5pm (but are basically at the airport). Unlikely, but still possible that the plane goes tech on the way back meaning a longer unplanned stay!

Still looking for good accomodation. If you have any suggestions, PM me, or post on the thread at AFF!
