On-Time Reliability of AO?
I am in SIN every July, and work Monday thru Friday. It's important that I'm at work every day, so when I book weekend trips during July I usually take SQ because they are so reliable, even though they are more expensive.
I see Garuda and Silkair (yes, an SQ subsidiary!) flights cancelled almost every time I fly ex-SIN when I'm there (this is my 4th July there), so I end up with SQ. But I'm seeing great fares for SIN-DPS-SIN on AO, for about S$329 all in, and flight times are perfect for me. So while I know that flight cancellations do happen (even with SQ!), I would greatly appreciate it if anyone has positive/negative experiences with AO and flight cancellations, on-time reliability, etc. Thank you! |
About 3 weeks ago, I was on QF794 BNE-CNS, a 763.
The pilot made an announcement to look out the left side of the aircraft, as an AO 763 was coming alongside us. He explained that since we were slightly ahead of schedule, and the AO 763 was slightly behind schedule, our a/c was slowing to allow AO to land first. It passed less than 1000 metres away. One of the finest sights in aviation - beautiful blue sky, bright livery, and the "just right" proportions of a "clean" 763. Not sure if that helps with your question, but AO does seem to pay attention to schedule, even if it means "bumping" a QF flight. |
