I was googling and found that El Al have a deal with QF so that members of their MATMID Club earn FF miles for flights on QF metal.

Qantas is a new partner, joining other participating airlines in El Al Frequent Flyer Club programs. The Clubs include MATMID, Loyal Traveler, Buy and Fly and Head in the Clouds.

Qantas is the largest airline in Australia, and the 10th largest in the world. The Qantas Group is made up a number of subsidiaries. The Group operates 4200 weekly flights for approximately 17 million passengers a year. The Qantas fleet numbers about 100 aircraft. Its flight route includes 96 global destinations.

From now on, as an El Al Frequent Flyer Club Member, you can accumulate points on each Qantas flight. In addition, you can also redeem points and travel free on bonus tickets to most Qantas destinations worldwide.

The agreement became effective on October 1, 1999. Flights on Qantas since that date entitle you to earn and accumulate bonus points.

It appears they have similar deals with AeroMexico, AA, South African, and Delta. It doesn't follow a trend (AA, and QF are OneWorld, none are *A, and the others don't seem to even be in any alliance).

I've never spoken to anyone/sat next to anyone/heard of anyone taking advantage of this as an ElAl FF.

Mind you, looking at the El Al website, I couldn't even find how to join up as a FF [or even the costs involved] so maybe that's why you don't hear of anyone - they can't figure out how :)

Don't forget this is a reciprocle deal. QF FF members can earn QF FF points on certain El Al flights. From the QF FF Terms and Conditions:
Points can only be earned on flights operated by El Al with an 'LY' flight number between Israel and Asia, India, South Africa, Europe and the Middle East.
Note this specifically excludes flights to the USA.

And for award flights:
El Al: Award bookings can only be made for flights between Israel and Asia, India, South Africa, Europe and the Middle East.
Again, USA flights not included.
