QF On Time Performance
|
Greetings from SYD T3 QP.
My 17:35 has been delayed until 18:15, and now a second SMS with revised departure of 18:45.... :p |
So we now have Virgin Blue quoting on time departures and QF quoting on time arrivals.
Frankly I don't care how late or early my flight departs but I do care how close to time I am going to arrive at my destination. So once again DJ will be blowing its own trumpet about itself and this time on how great its on time departures are but if I am stuck in a holding pattern or ATC delays that on time departure means nothing if I am late arriving. |

Also noted the virgin blue site that has ontime reports uses pics of aircraft with 4 engines... (its the little things) |
So I suppose "departure" is "off blocks" and if there's a mechanical problem, the techs fix it without a return to gate? If so, it makes the "departure" a nonsense.
I prefer the AA system which shows the probability of a specific flight being on time. More useful for the pAAssenger than an airline bulking all movements into a system wide average. Must re-read the book "how to lie with statistics". |

And let's not forget that the cheecky sods will not put the peddle down to make up time as that all costs too much money, or fly at a higher altitude as that too costs too much money. Rather give you a bumpy ride through the storm than waste money on tryng to get you there on time. So long as we leave on time we may as well take the scenic route, besides theres no service to be had so strap yourselves in my sweeties we're in for a rough ride.
