Are Business Flex really fully refundable?
 
I am about to book a Business Flex ticket from SYD to AKL.
The terms seem confusing to me:

Cancellation (including no show)
Before departure:
  • Full Refund
After departure:
  • The refund will be the difference (if any) between the fare paid and the applicable fare for the journey travelled.
This fare may be used as credit towards the payment of any higher fare from the point of origin, provided the new fare rules are met. The credit must be used within 12 months of the original tickets date of issue.
Any refund or credit is the Australian dollar price.
Is the full refund when cancelled before departure going back fully to my original form of payment (credit card), or just a credit that can be used towards another flight?
Also, if it is a full refund to my credit card, how easy can it be done? Can it be done online with some clicks?

The money will be refunded to your credit card. However, reports here on Flyertalk suggest that these refunds can take quite a while.

Recent reports..?

I know CRs refund points immediately and the surcharges usually come back after a day or two. I would expect similar for a flex cash fare.

Lets say last year refunds took several weeks to several months, maybe this has improved since then.

There could be some outliers there. Not relevant to the OP, but award bookings have the points back pretty much immediately. If they don’t turn up within 24hrs, I’d be calling QF.

Cash refunds should a few days. If more than 1 week, I’d probably think about calling.
