Been stuck in a loop too- frustrating that some airport combinations arent even updated- eg ktm-cmb on UL isnt on the system- really hard to get anything credited- lost 100 credits for saw-doh return and mysteriously had other 100 credited...

poopbunny Oct 5, 2023 4:01 am

I had better luck.

Mine was rejected twice for different reasons, one saying points were already credited and another about name not matching. Oddly only 1 leg of the booking was credited, yet they had trouble with the other.

I sent to that email address, scans of my boarding pass + screenshot of my points activity showing the obvious gap. Got response and points credited same day.

I wonder how many give up, or if you fly too frequently, don't check and miss it.

Keep your boarding pass!

Anyone know how long it takes for GK flights to get credited? Did 2 Nrt-kix rt in a day and one fuk-nrt for safe measures just to keep my status and sadly now a lowly gold as they havent credited even after 2 weeks :) Any experiences?

Technically up to 14 days but as you say, they normally post quickly - often before you takeoff. Give it a few days but if nothing after a week lodge an online claim. Should be fine for QF operated flights (partner flights can be hit a miss with the online form).

Seeking some advice on behalf of my Mum, which is slightly different to the OP's situation.

Earlier this year I made return bookings with QR for her and my Dad AKL-DOH-DUB business class and inputted their QF numbers.

Before their flights back home last month I checked their bookings online and noticed that while his QF number appeared, hers showed a random VA number (note she's never had a VA account, and the number was nothing like her QF number).

They're relatively old so I gave her very clear instructions on getting the number changed at check-in in DUB to her QF number, which she was able to do.

After their return I logged in to both their accounts and Dad's had credited properly, and along with some BA flights and some local JQ domestic flights he'd hit Silver. Mum's only showed the return flights (ie DUB-DOH-AKL). I also checked their boarding passes (which I always ask them to save) and sure enough the offending VA number appeared for the AKL-DOH-DUB legs.

I shot off a retro credit claim via the website for the AKL-DOH-DUB flights, but wasn't totally surprised when it was declined as "Unsuccessful - points already awarded to Qantas or other frequent flyer program."

Given she doesn't have a VA account and she wouldn't have changed the frequent flyer number in AKL or at any other point I'm a bit confused as to how this has happened.

But that aside I'm wondering what is the best way of having these flights properly credited. Is the above Qantas email the best approach here? Or do I need to go to QR and somehow have them confirm that the points haven't been credited to a VA programme that doesn't exist?

Thanks!

Have been other cases of random VA ffn on Qatar reservations with people who do not VA ffp accounts. Or have even seen a VA aircraft let alone fly Virgin Australia

QR Qatar thread--> https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/qata...l#post35970090
Are other posts. Organised planned fraud, based in DOH, is one opinion.

Resolving with QF will not be easy. Try email [email protected]

Thank you Mwenenzi that’s a really useful thread (I’d only searched here and the QR section re Qantas FF). Sounds like it could be a more serious problem than I thought. I’ll start with Qantas and at least get some advice from them on what I need to do re QR; hopefully if it’s a known issue then they know how to deal with it. Frustrating as with the full whack of points they’d have enough for a planned Aussie trip next year; I can gift them some points to make up the shortfall but the silver lounge pass/es would come in handy.

Ive had a similar issue lately.

Just recently flew QR9709/BA122 a month ago in Business Class (I). Checked and triple checked that its a mileage earning class. Checked in with BA122, Sold as QR9709 visible, with the QF number and tier status visible on the boarding pass.

Fast forward a few weeks later, Points and SCs were not credited, so I applied for retroactive claim, and that was rejected.

Decided to email the FF email and hasn't got a reply for ages, though had the auto-reply SR number.

Lets see how this goes.

I'm afraid to say you're likely in for a battle.

I had the same issue with QR codeshare flights on BA and JAL flights. If you check the QR Airline Earning Table, you'll see that flights in class I marketed by QR and operated by a Oneworld airline should accrue at the business class earn rate for QFF.

The points never credited. I then swapped 27 (yes) emails with 5 different customer reps, who variously informed me that my flight was a "charter flight", a "freighter flight", a "free ticket" or that there was a "codeshare policy" which meant that only codeshare flights operated by Qantas were valid for earning purposes. None of these were true. Politely referring them to the QFF T&Cs and the Airliner Earning Table did nothing. It was beyond disrespectful - I am a Platinum One and Lifetime Gold member.

After 8 weeks I had enough - had a lawyer friend draw up a draft Statement of Claim (to be filed in the NSW Supreme Court) and sent it by courier to their Mascot corporate address. I received an email within 2 days of it being received, had the points credited and 50,000 QFF points as 'goodwill'. No one should have to do this. I avoid Qantas now unless there is absolutely no other option.

Wow that is extreme, and I hope I don't ever go that way...

But you need to do what you need to do when the time comes!

Edit:

So as exactly as you said and I quote :

variously informed me that my flight was a "charter flight", a "freighter flight", a "free ticket" or that there was a "codeshare policy" which meant that only codeshare flights operated by Qantas were valid for earning purposes.
There was a reply last Friday which went along the lines of citing the following:

In accordance with Clause 9.4.1 of the Qantas Frequent Flyer Terms and Conditions available at qantas.com/terms:
  • For the purposes of earning Qantas Points, Status Credits and the Minimum Points Guarantee, Eligible Flights exclude Codeshare Flights where the Operating Carrier is Qantas, a oneworld Member Airline or an Airline Partner aircraft, and where another airline's flight number is entered on the ticket, unless that flight has been specified by Qantas Loyalty as an Eligible Flight.

Of course this aids in my case as it supports the following 7 pointed reply I shot off as a return email:

1. The Flight booked is QR9709. This is a Qatar (herein known as per the IATA code QR) MARKETED SCHEDULED flight. QR is a full member of ONEWORLD. Herein attached is the link confirming QR is a Currently active ONEWORLD Member Carrier:Qatar Airways - oneworld Member Airline.

2. QR9709 is operated by the scheduled service BA122. British Airways (herein known as per the IATA code BA) operates the Scheduled service for QR as the OPERATING CARRIER. BA is a FOUNDING member of ONEWORLD. Herein attached is the link confirming BA is a Currently active ONEWORLD Member Carrier: British Airways - oneworld Member Airline

3. Departure boards of Heathrow clearly states and I quote: "BA122, British Airways, Doha to London." Furthermore, I quote: "This flight also operates under the following flight numbers under codeshare arrangements: AA7083, QR9709 ". Heathrow airport website is a credible citation source. It is where the flight Arrives at. Should you not believe Heathrow Airport as a credible source, that means that all QR, BA and AA are lying to Heathrow Airport and the relevant transportation authorities and are liable for damages when the need arises under the Legal Statutes and the Law of the United Kingdom. Herein attached is the link where such information can be gathered: https://www.heathrow.com/arrivals/te...-details/ba122

4. The ticket was booked in BUSINESS CLASS under the fare code IJR9R1SX, under the Fare Bucket I. The Fare Calculation is SIN QR X/DOH QR LON1621.62/-BCN QR X/DOH QR SIN1178.48NUC2800.10END ROE1.33816. The full ticket was charged for SGD 5292.00, and exists in the screenshots as supplied below. This is not a Free Ticket, nor is it a Charter Flight, Freighter flight or Staff Duty Tickets (Herein known as ID Tickets).

6.

Eligible flights

Not all Qantas and partner airline flights, airfares and booking classes are eligible to earn Qantas Points or Status Credits. You can check the flight earn eligibility in the Airline Earning Tables and Frequent Flyer program terms and conditions.

7.
Please see the screenshot as attached below. Please note that this screenshot was taken directly off the website under "Qantas Frequent Flyer Earn Categories on Partner marketed flight" For avoidance of any miscommunication or doubt, herein attached in the link where the aforementioned earn category table can be found. Qantas Frequent Flyer Earn Category Tables | Qantas Frequent Flyer. I note the following quote from the website: "Qantas Points and Status Credits are earned on all eligible booking classes, except on Qatar Airways codeshare Flights operated by an airline other than Qantas or a oneworld member airline."
And here is the screenshot:

Plus also emphasising my disappointment as a consecutive 10 year old Platinum member who made the effort to get and achieve Lifetime gold at an age of 32.

We shall see their reply.

Is there some reason not to just call? On occasions where I have had incorrect information ( barring one obscure T&C issue ) speaking to a person has made it easy to deal with

The exception was on a BA flight in Europe in business class when travelling in fare basis of F ( only 2 cabins on aeroplane ) where only business class points were credited and had to take it further to get credited in line with terms at the time that said that points credit based on fare basis and not cabin flown

An email does place the detail of the follow-up ‘on the record’, and can be supported up by a call afterwards.

Dave Noble May 26, 2024 2:11 am

so do phone recordings - and dont need a phone call follow up
