QF1 SYD-SIN-LHR in First - 2 sets of PJs?
Hi, I'll be doing this flight Nov. I was wondering if they give you 1 set of PJs for the entire 2 leg flight, or if you get a 2nd set of PJs on the 2nd leg. I'm hoping there will be a 2nd set that I can gift to a friend, but knowing Qantas, I doubt it...

I haven't done a 2-leg First flight yet so can't directly answer. Specifically ask them for it if they don't come handing them out. Say you left the old one on the plane (surely they'll do cleaning?).
The pyjamas are actually quite good (I feel) - the newer black ones with a bit of red color at the neck. The old blue one's were nothing I'd be sad about if they refuse the request.

I think you get one pair on each leg – of course, they're not really a must-have given QF1 leaves Sydney in the arvo and arrives into Singapore around 9.30pm, but if they are not being handed out there's no harm in asking, if they have been loaded at SYD of course.

Two sets of everything - the basic pj's and the awful travel kits that do not rival the J kits of many carriers (zips that stick and break, basic contents with no sense of generosity or luxury given the astronomical fares)
The bed is ultimately the saving grace long haul

As said, youll be offered everything on both legs. I asked for biz class PJs instead, as I find them more comfortable, and was given both.
I just completed a QF1/2 round trip with some domestics J flights in between.
my expectations were low based on forum commentary, but Ive got to say that every flight was top notch.
The F crews were amazing, the food was very good, the entertainment was as good as any and the bed is (in my view) the best in the sky.
My only better F experience in the last 5 years was with Air France, who just manage to bring a bit of extra sparkle (but in a very elegant, non blingy way).

I don’t see how they’re not required? The purpose of PJs is to save your regular clothes from getting creased, save any food spills, save your regular clothes from sweat, and to give you something comfortable and less restrictive. To me it seems the purpose is the same for a day as night flight.
It’s about choice for the passenger. The airline shouldn’t be deciding for me whether they are or aren’t needed?
Same as full-flat vs reclining seats… airlines, and reviewers flying ‘as a guest of the airline’ tell us reclining seats are perfect for daytime flights and full-flats ‘aren’t required’. But that’s purely the personal opinion of those parties, and assuming people don’t want to arrive well rested and ready for a night out. Or that people haven’t arrived on a connecting service, or had to check in very early and might want to catch up on sleep.

I get that, but the reason I said "they're not really a must-have" (not "they're not required") is that most passengers associate PJs with sleeping, which in turn is largely done on overnight legs. Yes, it's nice to be able to change into PJs for a daytime leg such as SYD-SIN or SYD-HKG, but is it a must? I'd suggest not.
That's a very good point, and I'd support that take.

The criteria are the same for day and night flights, I’d argue almost exactly the same other than the sleep might be a ‘nap’.
And what makes first class different? Several airlines offer PJs to F irrespective of the time of day, including Qantas. Are F class pax able to separate the notion of PJs from ‘sleep’?
If PJs were renamed ‘lounge wear’ would they suddenly become more popular? And of course, pax can always decline

Given the lack of showers, I always want PJs on a daytime flight. I dont wear the top, but generally wear the pants because they are more comfortable than jeans.
I dont collect PJs or Amenity kits, anymore, but I still want to be able to use them in flight.

Similar. When I fly on airlines that do not have PJs in J or F, even if a day flight I will pack an old set. So for me they are a "must have". They are just more comfortable, and save my day clothes from spills.
