Just FYI this is incredibly helpful. I'm looking for LAX-SYD and back end-of-October to early-November and have fingers crossed. I actually saw 2 seats on November 7th a week or so ago, but it didn't work out unfortunately.

It really is! Definitely some good availability if you pay close attention and aren't too picky on dates.
I got lucky and snapped one up for LAX-SYD in late July and couldn't be happier!

I wonder why it's so much easier to find outbound LAX/SYD rather than the return?

That's a great question... I have absolutely no idea why but it'll be interesting to see the long term trends now that I've started documenting availability!

Side note: Looks like there was a significant amount of business class tickets that were just added around November through December for both routes! Great availability the week before Christmas even.
