Aircraft Changes

Hi everyone,

I wanted to ask if anyone knows whether Qantas regularly changes the aircraft being used on the QF11 to Lax route? Checked my app to monitor points and noticed for an upcoming trip in June that our seat numbers have changed and the business class configuration has shifted to the old 2-2-2 style with our seats being split up in different parts of the cabin. Is this something I’ll have to monitor so that we don’t get split up? What’s the likelihood of the aircraft shifting back to the 1-2-1 configuration before we actually take off?

Thanks!

IMO anything can happen. Aircraft options are the 388, 789 or 332. All have the range. I thought all had the new J configuration but I may be mistaken. If your flight is still a 388 then it may be an oldie with a configuration that will eventually be changed. Too early to be sure on anything.

It’d be worth phoning QF to see if they can seat your group together or at least near to each other. If your QF status is low you may get better seats this way.

Qantas have 12 x A388 , 2 of them are scrapped and are in the Victorville boneyard for ever, this leaves 10x A388, currently 7 of the 10 are refurbished.

This leaves 3 non refurbished being A388 VH-0QA , VH-OQC and VH-OQL.

The article below shows that SYD-HKG will have non refurbished A380 March 26 - to mid June 2023 on this route.

One would think that Qantas will be refurbishing at least 1 of the 3 during this time.

Not that it helps you , it appears that you are unlucky.

There were unconfirmed reports that VH-OQL has come back re furbished early Feb after a stint in Abu Dhabi ???? can anyone confirm this.

The best way to make the droopy SkyBed 2 seats flat (instead of banana shaped) is to place a cabin bag under the footrest. Works just like magic.

For an F fare of 25K SYD-LAXin F and a J fare right up there, it is sad that we have reached a stage where we are even talking about Skybed 2 seats (appreciate comments by og with thanks) - is our slavish loyalty to the FF programme being exploited? Have we forgotten we have a choice?
