DFW or LAX

Looking at booking 787 premium economy award. Both DFW and LAX has Classic award availabilty on my date. What are the pros and cons of departing one or the other location? Travel will be during peak Christmas holidays.

My other option is to fly Singapore Air business from IAH-MAN-SIN-SYD. The only reason, I haven't jump on that yet is the 54 hours total travel time because of a 24 hour layover in Singapore

SQ. But if you like sitting up for 14-16 hours with 38” seat pitch and the person infront of you reclining into your face then go QF. 24 hours in SIN is a nice break for hotel and brilliant food.

My main concern with this option is if Covid starts going South a bit again. I am concerned that Singapore would lock down again, and I would be stuck with a canceled flight or stuck in the airport for 24 hours. Would also probably use SQ for the return with another 24 hour layover in Singapore.

Where do you want to start from? If in Texas, then DFW would be the logical choice, if in California, then LAX

The pro of LAX is that it is a shorter flight and less chance of bad weather. Where are you actually starting from and what is the duration of any connecting flight

There is no way that I would do IAH-MAN-SIN-SYD over DFW-SYD -. Fly 4700 miles to Manchester to end up further away from your destination - plus nearly doubling journey distance just to go in business class seems insane

I live in Houston, but would be starting the journey from Austin since i will be there for Christmas. So If I did the DFW-SYD or SQ IAH the positioning flight/travel time would be about the same. Obviously LA is different animal. Do you have any experience flying QF premium economy on the 787?

Singapore isn’t going to close again IMO.

they are over this as much as the US and Aus is.

I ended up booking the Premium economy Qantas flight to Australia. I have a Singapore business class going back with the 23 hour plus layover. Still hoping I will find business save r on the way back that can shorten my total travel time. Also hoping a Qantas business class opens up on the way there, but from what little I have read that will not happen.
