QF to use NZ's Lounges in AKL/WLG/CHC/ZQN (Short-Term)

Qantas has come to the agreement with NZ in the short-term to use there lounges in AKL/WLG/CHC/ZQN, while Qantas Lounges in AKL/WLG will remain closed to for the time being. Source

The NZ Lounge in AKL would defiantly but an upgrade of the 90s Qantas Lounge in AKL.

CHC & ZQN were/are 3rd party lounges
https://www.queenstownairport.co.nz/.../manaia-lounge
https://www.prioritypass.com/en/loun...-manaia-lounge
https://www.christchurchairport.co.n...rline-lounges/
At CHC all other international airlines, except NZ & SQ?, used the Manaia Lounge. IIRC VA used the NZ lounge while they were ff partners

The link lists QF status holders as being eligible to enter, but not equivalent OW status holders. An oversight?

Edit
QF Newsroom link

With Qantas’ lounges in New Zealand currently closed, Qantas will also offer Platinum and Gold Frequent Flyers and Qantas Club members access to Air New Zealand lounges in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown.

Nothing about those flying JQ who if had QF status would have had QF lounge access.

.
Do wonder if CHC/ZQN will become an longer term relationship, would make sense for the smaller ports for NZ/QF to share lounges to reduce costs.

NZ used to use the QF in PER for an very long time, until more recently they opened there own in PER.

Will be see NZ get an deal with QF for HBA, MCY, ADL, CNS....

To some extent for CHC - ZQN would depend on lounge capacity vs flight departure times
Same for the other NZ international routes from the secondary AU airports

But is a commercial arrangement. Pay the $$$$$ --> get access.
However 1 airlines pax getting lounge access and the other not is selling point for the airline with a lounge.

QF AKL was last year voted the world's most promising lounge, in that Qantas has been promising for years to refurb it.

Seriously though: it's so long been planned for this to become a single-class 'premium' Qantas lounge along the same lines as HKG and LHR, not sure if that'd mean combining the current spaces into a single footprint or just shifting into a new location. I recall that when AirNZ opened its new AKL lounge, there were thoughts that Qantas might take over its old space.

It's quite a shame that what for years has been arguably Qantas' busiest international route has been served by such a sub-standard lounge, even though the length of flights ahead (~3 hours) doesn't exactly warrant the most whizz-bang affair. But you'd like to think something on par with one of the better domestic QF J lounges would suffice.

From OW site (would be ~2019-2020 pre CV19)--> https://www.oneworld.com/airport-lounges?location=AKL
  • QF lounge also hosts QR & AA
  • CX use Air NZ
  • MH use the contract Strata Lounge
Would be enough OW traffic for a better lounge.

One would like to think there'd be sufficient traffic (well, 'premium' traffic) for a Oneworld lounge at Auckland. It certainly fits the criteria of an airport with several Oneworld carriers and flights but no 'home' carrier.

Asking on behalf of someone else, is this still a thing? Using a Qantas club pass to enter the NZ lounge departing Auckland while flying Qantas on the Tasman?

The QF AKL lounge is closed for refurbishment. Is a post, by Kiwi Flyer, the Air NZ lounge is being used.
...and told the Qantas lounge is still closed but I can use the Air New Zealand lounge. It may be a while before the Qantas lounge reopens as they are refurbishing it - no more first lounge but a much improved business lounge. This is long overdue having been scheduled for years even pre-pandemic.
I suspect lounge pass will not work in the lounge QF are using.

This lounge is temporarily closed.
Once re-opened, lounge opening hours will be: 4am to the last Qantas flight departure
