The only thing I see currently - and announced at the same time as the Status Credit Support - are SCs for a new Qantas Premier Platinum or ANZ FF Black credit card - or a Qantas Hotel Stay. Being locked down in Melbourne, the likelihood of an interstate Hotel Stay is far away whereas any desire to book to stay at a hotel in CBD Melbourne has been tempered by the current crisis. As an avid points collector, I already have both the credit cards in my wallet, so these latest "support" packages are of no use to me. Others will probably benefit.

I like your idea of assembling names and writing a group email, and stressing the value that you directly bring to Qantas and why you remain a member outside of Australia.

Otherwise I fear that your individual claim for leniency will just be a curiously amongst other more business critical problems.

I would suggest we draft a nice short clear letter and all contact the frequentflyer email address. See if we can get any love for those based in UK.

Myself and davem4 have crafted a letter which people are free to take a copy of / edit if appropriate, and send to the QFF team, either via email or social media.
May be easier than assembling names / starting a petition?

The letter's on an open Google Docs link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...9-gIlhfeI/edit

Hopefully this gets us somewhere!

This is such a reasonable request that I'm surprised Red Roo is silent and not reached out to date.

An easy way to message is via Facebook messenger!

The team is really reactive.

Please message quick! So that the escalation team can see it's a widespread issue

You’re assuming that Red Roo (or similar staff) are still employed ..

Like other non-Australia based QFFers, I appreciate the offer however I can't fly QF until New Zealand opens its borders to allow Australians in and without the need for a quarantine/isolation period. I also will not consider flying JQNZ domestic just to rack up the 600 SC to retain WP.

It is only 30 JQ domestic NZ flights with max bundle, in whatever period you have left of the year. :p

You seriously assume that Qantas marketing and comms aren't monitoring this as well as a few other sites? I think 'Red Roo' is more than one individual person.

Anyone got any news back yet?

Nothing yet. I noted in today's "Executive Traveller" article on this topic that this is actually a OneWorld rule. From the article:

Oneworld policy currently "mandates that all Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald members earn minimum sectors on their home carrier," confirms Mark Ross-Smith, CEO of Loyalty Data Co and former manager of the Enrich frequent flyer program at Oneworld's Malaysia Airlines.

"Qantas can’t waive the minimum sector requirement as it’s mandated by Oneworld," Ross-Smith affirms. "It’s up to Oneworld to make these changes to help support Oneworld member airlines."
This wasn't something I was aware of, and feels like it may be less likely to be able to be reviewed case by case unless Oneworld comes up with some kind of special dispensation?

Dave Noble Jul 22, 2020 5:26 am

The article is obviously wrong since AA officially dropped its requirement at the same time it moved to revenue based earning

Yeah, David F. put the article together at my prompt on Facebook.

AA + Cathay + Finnair + Malaysian don't have this requirement, so I have gone back to David to pose the question back to Qantas.

Forgive my naivety in that case!
