don't even think it's reached 30 percent yet in WA...willhappily be corrected though. I just want to fly and I see Europe opening up . There are spectators back at major sporting events in large numbers. Let's all just give this jab a chance and hopefully start filling aeroplane again around Aussie and beyond. I hate how life has become for so many.

could only find numbers for "inner" Perth, whatever that is classed as, but 60% have had 1st shot & 40% have had 2 shots.

Some more cryptic messages from QFA:

Summary: Planned resumption of international flights dependant on Australian border measures, vaccination rates, and government policy. If these align, there is a good chance December is still a go.
From mid-December 2021, flights would start from Australia to COVID-safe destinations, which are likely to include Singapore, the United States, Japan, United Kingdom and Canada using Boeing 787s, Airbus A330s, and 737s and A320s for services to Fiji.

Plans remain dependent on Government decisions in coming months, including future quarantine requirements.

Assuming current projections hold and the 80 per cent vaccine threshold is met in December, Qantas and Jetstar plan to trigger a gradual restart as outlined below. If those assumptions change or dates move, the restart plans will adjust accordingly.

“We can adjust our plans if the circumstances change, which we’ve already had to do several times during this pandemic. Some people might say we’re being too optimistic, but based on the pace of the vaccine rollout, this is within reach and we want to make sure we’re ready,” added Mr Joyce.

AJ has made several predictions when QF will fly long haul international. All have been wrong.
But QF will take punters money for these tickets, with little chance of flying.

NSW premier & PM have said once we hit 70% many restrictions will go & once we hit 80% everything back to some sort of normal.

Week ago NSW premier said late Oct for 70% & mid Nov for 80%.

So every state is now finally cranking up vaccinations, so these dates might come forward. Even if they don't, by end of Sept, a month away, they should be able to predict to the day, when we'll hit 80%. At that time airlines will probably start announcing many international airfares, suspect not a full schedule, to test the demand. Already seeing many return fares to USA early January 2022 under $1500 & some under $1000.

Australia has very few cases & hardly any deaths, but media will beat it up as long at media can. The tide has finally turned.

VIC had 801 deaths in the mid 2020 wave. Hardly "few".
The person I knew who died would not have agreed with you.

Great tactic to defer corporate strategy to government policy!

What I'm really hearing is: we can't run a decent return (or won't take with risk) with low volumes, thus we need borders to open up to create more demand. This is while other airlines doing just that and seem to be unfazed. Meanwhile we will take your interest free loan to prop up our QFA bank account to protect our solvency.

1. 801 deaths have not all been from covid. Some had covid but didn't die from it. Some didn't even have covid. Many vested interests in beating up the numbers (ie drug companies, govts who want you to get vaccinated, hospitals who get paid for each covid death, anti-vaxxers, etc. etc.)

2. You don't know that the person you knew who died, died from covid. He/she may have had covid only.

Maybe I should have said few cf. everywhere else.

Qld has had 7 related covid deaths in 18 months & none for about a year.

Most of the 7 covid cases, were imported from SYD from Ruby Princess.

Can confirm my booking 1 July 2022 SYD-LAX (booked 2 weeks ago) x 2Pax business class, our seats have already been changed today from a 787-9 to a refurbished A380.

Qantas are not mucking around getting these A380 back.

had a quick look at Qantas flights to LAX in January & all seem very expensive (eg $3600 early Jan our back 2 weeks later), when other airlines offering directs offering $1000 to $1500 return

WA population is 2.667 million Perth is 1.985 million.

Total Injections as at yesterday for WA is 1.64million which divided by 2 is 832,000

Even if you dismiss non eligible people under 16 in WA and revise it to 2 million you still get under 50% as first doses.

WA is last on the numbers and Qld is also very poor on vaccinated numbers.

Reason probably is they have not been scared by a big outbreak like NSW & VIC.

Credit must go to Tasmania who have the least to fear yet their people are stepping up to the mark.

So while the vacination figures for WA as posted above are not that wonderful really now it's reported that Perth could lose its direct flight with QF to LHR in favour of Darwin. The loss reported by Qantas certainly means they must step up to the mark and start flying again soon ...or just give up maybe!

And I think that's one thing that could really make the WA premier unhappy.
