SYD views
Hi folks,
It's been a while since I visited OZ and will be returning in FEB. Last time I visited I remember having some awesome views of the Sydney skyline on approach into SYD and departure from SYD. Thing is, I can't remember what side of the plane I was sitting. I know there will be a lot of factors (which runway/time of day etc) as to whether a view of the skyline will be possible at all but law of averages which side of the plane am I better to snag a window seat? Thanks! |
Easy peasy
Be on the left side of the plane for landing and the right side for take off If the plane lands from the North then you'll get great views of the harbour and the city centre Same if the plane takes off to the North Landing from the south, taking off to the South - you will see nothing but ocean SYD Kingsford Smith Airport |
[mod hat] While this is not a QF topic I will leave it here for the benefit of others. If there are more replies I will move it to the ANZ/Oceania forum. [/mod hat]

is it worth us having a master thread of “which side of the plane to sit on for views of QF destinations”? Perhaps not much demand for it?

- sit in a middle seat - there's nothing worth seeing :) |

Well in the case of PERth the answer is also easy peasy
- sit in a middle seat - there's nothing worth seeing :) ASP/DRW you get decent views both sides, CBR usually better left side but some good stuff out the right as well. MEL/BNE not sure every time I’ve flown into AYQ the rock is off to the right, however I’ve only done it in light aircraft so commercial traffic may be different |

This really is one for a light aircraft ( private ) flight. My one time into AYQ (QF ASP-AYQ in a 146 (IIRC)) was full of people on both sides saying “but where is it”.
