Personally I think these will in fact be A380 replacements rather than PS aircraft because I do not believe PS is an commercially viable business case.
A350-1000 are not the biggest sellers and some orders have been converted into A350-900 by other airlines all ready. Maybe QF wants to lock in a good price now and later defer the aircraft when the A380 comes up for replacement in the next 8-10 years. I also wonder if the A350-1000 is too big a stretch and like the A340-600 required additional reinforcing/weight for the fuselage.

If it was A380 replacement they'd want a bigger aircraft - so the 777-9X, or the mooted 350 stretch (variously referred to as the 1100/2000)

So it's now only up to the pilots to agree to a negotiated set of criteria - according to the SMH today. I really wonder if QF are hoping the pilots say "no" so QF can pull out of Sunrise and have someone else to blame?

Occasionally, I'll check Google to get a rough idea of schedules. On the Google homepage, I might search "LHR SYD flights".
I just did. The default date was January 20. There is a LHR-SYD NONSTOP!?!?! It's QF2 0835-0610+2

QF2 LHR-SYD has times 2035-0610+2. Are you mistaking the 12 hr clock with the 24 hr clock?

I checked it again and it must have been a computer error. I saw the words "Nonstop" before but now I see "1 stop". Google error. I'm certain that I saw the words "Nonstop" because I was convinced it was an error.

One thing I do really hope is that Qantas ensures the Airtbus A350-1000's provide a significantly better economy seating arrangement than the 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
I've been unfortunate enough to have requested my usual of an economy aisle seat on one of their earlier MEL - PER runs. And as a long time platinum member they gave me the 'best' seating they could.
And that was the worst economy seat I have ever flown on - domestically or internationally. The aisle was so narrow that every person and every trolley that came down knocked my shoulder. I felt for the crew, as it was genuinely awkward for them.
Knowing Qantas was looking at them as the go to aircraft for that leg, honestly had me looking at other airlines to get to Perth after that flight.
And their artist mockup scares me as it has the same 3x3 config in economy as the 787-9. Hopefully the extra 13cm width the A350-1000 cabin has is enough width to place those seats comfortably across the cabin
