Blocked Seats on upcoming QF Flight

Hi There,

Below is a screen grab on a flight I will be on in July. I have noticed on ExpertFlyer that almost all the seats in economy is blocked.
Seeing the flight is in 3 months time why would they block this many seats ?
I checked a few days back and this wasn't the case. I'm asking this question just out of curiosity

Have you looked at the seat map in Qantas "manage booking"?

I'm sitting in business,so don't have access to view the economy seats. Just thought its weird as a couple of days ago all the blocked seats in economy were empty and bookable.
Would they be possibly holding them for an upcoming special offer ?

Special offer:- unlikely
Change of aircraft or schedule:- maybe
Big group booking:- anything is possible
But only QF will know
Is QF still selling seats on your flight?

Did a mock booking for curiosity. Below is the ExpertFlyer vs Qantas website when doing a new booking.

Maybe bookings closed off due to possible cancellation. I’d be on the phone ASAP ...

Mine is the same! Very strange. I spoke to someone at Qantas last night and they said my flight is 90% booked but I could see the flight was basically empty but all blocked out. Even the flight I’m taking in 6 weeks from LHR is the same

have you seen the fare basis breakdown as well? Seatmaps are generally not great indications of load

There's a similar report on AFF:

Large volume of blocked seats! | Australian Frequent Flyer

I'm thinking there may be software issues or they may be in the process of modifying seating criteria.

Or the biggest corporate seat purchase in history.

Launched this on Twitter aswell, so we may get the right heads looking into this. Like and Retweet for traction.

Just to wrap up.
No conclusive answer on the blocked seats, however it seems to be a common practice at Qantas. These blocked seats will slowly come available at higher fare buckets.

Will revisit next month. 😊

hmnmm... it’s interesting as I did a mock booking with the highest fare and still could only book row 85

There is probably a better explanation an informed Qantas employee would know the answer to 😊.
