Long haul J seat blocking vs OWS
Hi all,
I’ve finally got a decent ex-EU price on QF9 and 10, result!
As BA silver I thought I’d have a decent selection of seats 11 months out. But MMB shows all rows 1-4 are blocked. Does QF block these for their own elites only? Are there any OWS benefits to seat selection?

Qantas block these seats for their own "Uber" Elites. i.e. Platinum 1 and Chairman's Lounge. (Think GGL ...)
Unallocated seats may become available 80 hours before the flight.

Wow, 16 seats blocked for the very highest tier only? There must be a lot of them! Thanks for the answer.

CL and P1 as well as their companions (AFAIK). It also means expensive last minute bookings get front seats instead of the dregs left over down the back with the upgrader riff-raff. And since the 789 has no F class, the seat blocking saves room for them too.
