The refurbishment program does not begin until March when the first one goes into the workshops. It will take some time. As mentioned above, the A330 refurbs took 1-2 months. It would not surprise if the A380 took 3.

All 12 have been flying over the last few days on southern hemisphere high season duty so there is not one out of service awaiting service in March.
The first A380 is not being refurbished in March, it’s already started with the arrival of the aircraft in AUH a few days ago. There is some conjecture around the wing crack issues that could see four of the fleet not upgraded and permanently grounded depending on the results of the concurrent D check being done.

Any source? I thought the wing cracks have already been dealt with retro fitting.

If true that they’ve started it’s earlier than announced by QF themselves initially.

I think that QF public announcements happen in a completely different timeframe to the average punter’s timeframe expectations.

I don't think any public information about where the reconfiguration will be conducted has been released, other than Airbus will do it

So VH-OQC is en route to AHU as QF 6011 so is this the first to be upgraded?

I had to laugh. The "service" you receive on Qantas, even in a newly refurbed bird, will be 'chalk and cheese' compared with the quality and sophistication you'll have received with Qatar on the first leg. Qantas first and business are way below par in their offering despite fares which would indicate otherwise. Qatar is a plush 5 star hotel service. Qantas will be more akin to a friendly BBQ invite on someones back deck. That's soft product generally. As for the food comparison Qantas will no doubt significantly disappoint after flying Qatar. Qatar's business class service, food, lavs, amenity kits and bar area are better than anything Qantas could ever offer - even in 'first'.

VH-OQA seems to have exited AUH earlier this month and returned to service, sans the new J seats and other cabin mods.

Anu Dhabi seems to be maintenance only
Refurbs won't start until July, and likely at an Airbus facility
